Just recently every streaming site I previously used comes up with:

Error Code: html5_video:4

what in the heck does this mean? I just want to watch sports like I’ve done for years

Thanks in advance

get cable............

The one I like seems to be working fine... Maybe your ISP is blocking it?

How do I get it unblocked?

Been watching games on these sites for years and right after I posted a link on here it started coming up with this message. I think some geek reported me. My wife can’t stream on her phone either. My father in law in north Portland can. The guy working the guard shack at work was streaming the Blazers the other night

Maybe try a VPN? I use Express VPN.

I've heard mullvad vpn is better and have been thinking of switching.

No guarantee it will work for you, but it's worth a shot

*Edit*
A free solution that might work and that I probably should have suggested first is to change your DNS.

Unlocking the Internet: How Changing Your DNS Can Help You Access Blocked Websites

I would probably go with cloudflare instead of Google

Is Duckduckgo a VPN?

if so I tried that and still no dice.

I think I might just get league pass for $50 for the rest of the year

Sorry that link I added didn't show up at first. I updated it so it should show now.

I think duckduckgo has a VPN (But I've never used it), but a paid VPN would be much better about unblocking blocked sites.

But if you're not wanting to pay for anything the first thing I would try is changing your DNS. That might solve your problem. And it's super simple to do.

Thanks! I’ll look into changing the DNS

Hello, nerd here.

Looks like the `html5_video:4` video streaming error has been popping up a lot lately based on a google search. Doubt it's related to anything you've been watching.

In order to diagnose properly, this is where I would start:

1. Are you using an ad blocker? (adblock plus, ublock origin, etc.). Chrome has officially discontinued support for ad blockers generally, so things might go haywire if you are using Chrome, for example.
2. Have you tried another browser? (I would recommend a dedicating a different browser entirely for any sketchy website you might visit. Using your everyday browser (with all of its saved data like CC numbers, passwords, etc.) for any untrusted websites is asking for trouble.)
3. Have you tried updating your device? I saw that this error seems to be affecting Mac/iPhone users and there's some chatter that it might be related to that. What kind of device are you having the trouble on?
4. You said your wife can't stream either. What internet are you connected to that this happens on? Does it change if you are connected to your home wifi vs phone network vs coffee shop internet?

Did you put it on a separate wifi network? Have heard these things have backdoors to try and get everything else on your home network hacked.

Not using any ad blocker. Would that be the possible problem?

I use Safari, but I’ve tried Chrome and even downloaded DuckDuckGo to no avail.

I installed the latest update which IOS 18.3 for my iPhone 15.

Comcast is our internet provider and we haven’t tried any other network. Getting off WiFi and just using data makes no difference. I’ll try Starbucks wifi or something in a little bit.

Thanks for your help troubleshooting this problem.

Hmm. Yeah, this sounds like an iOS issue. I also use Comcast and it's working with no VPN or ad blocker. On windows, Android, and Android TV.

I too use an iPhone 15 for streams sometimes. I have found those eastern streams don’t work as well now and seems to take too much work to get them going. I don’t recommend using meth cus drugs are bad, but you can catch a stream if you know the risks and self prescribed it. Also some drugs to require trial and error.

Gonna hijack this thread.

Is anyone using a DVR with the antenna? I hate that I can’t pause or record the games. I started out with a shorter range antenna and it sucked so I upgraded to one with 1200 mile range it works much better. I’m just missing the ability to pause or record.

Step 1. Google your make and model of TV and see if you can put a jump drive into the USB slot and record live TV. My old Samsung could, my new Sony can't.

Hmmm

Even though I’m updated to the latest version?
Heck, it might be BECAUSE you're on the latest version. Maybe Apple is helping them lock it down?

I'm not sure though. I don't have much experience with Apple products.

There are scores of folks complaining of this problem going back a couple years. Almost all of them are talking about streaming sites or porn sites not working on an Apple device.

Given the time frame of all the complaints and after reading through a couple threads, I'd say this looks like a thing that happens somewhat regularly, albeit not to all users, and often and seems to resolve itself in a matter of time. That is consistent with Apple pushing updates to alter or block certain elements (sketchy video players for example) on their devices in order to cut down on illegal streams (Apple has its own streaming service after all), and then the folks running the sketchy websites need to update their software to get around the new "fix." This same game of whackamole happens with Youtube and uBlockOrigin all the time.

Apple is the most walled off operating system there is, and so they have a ton of control over your device. As such, there doesn't seem to be much you can do here outside of jail breaking your iPhone and then knowing how to disable whatever it is they are doing.

Your options appear to be: 1. buy league pass, 2. use a non-Apple product, 3. wait and hope it fixes itself, or 4. roll back your OS to a previous version where you didn't have this problem.

Personally, I would do 1 while 3 happens and then plan to do 2 before next season.

Great advice.

I have a Tablo, works pretty well it's DVR for antenna and works to watch from any device.

Not using at the moment as I prefer YouTubeTV. But if you wanted to save the monthly fee I'd do Tablo.

The reviews are kinda all over the place. It works pretty well for you?

Yeah I got it setup and it recorded what I wanted fine. Once it had trouble switching to a live program and seemed glitchy trying to to get that on but eventually worked. You can setup recurring recordings for events such as all Blazer games. If seemed to work fine eventually but my guess with poor reviews is may not be as polished or reliable as YouTube TV.

I was going to stick it in relatives house in Portland to record Blazer games for me since I'm in Texas but instead I just buy league pass on YouTubeTV. There really aren't any other good options I could find for OTA DVR - so if that's something you want to explore I'd give Tablo a shot and see if it works for you.

Bump? You get your problem fixed Zags?
