Well, the Nets passed on Warrick and Simien.

As usual they have suprised me. I would not be, however, surprised if a trade took place.

Lets wait and see who get picked at No. 43.

thing is not going that bad, Wright is a nice shooter for us in parameter, and VC & RJ need the back up... warrick is too thin, and i don't know whether simien is that good.. so...

I think Antoine Wright was good pick for Nets, he'll be good 6th man.

Diogu, May, and Frye were already gone, and the Nets were not willing to take on an undersized PF/SF. So the best logical thing to do was to improve our backcourt.

yea it was the best thing to do i read on hoopshype that the bobcats would of drafted villenviova or w/e his name is(the big forehead dude) with 13 but toronto took him so they had to take may

But.. Diogu and Sean May are still undersized... why we would draft him if they are available for us.

Iam really not that dissappointed either, it was just strange when I heard who we selected because I didnt see the draft, so I heard it from someone else when I was out last night, so it was just wierd. But when I got home and seen the draft list on Sportscenter and NBATV, it is understandable. The only thing is that Chris Taft in the 2nd round was taking by someone one pick ahead of us at #42, man would I have loved that risk in the 2nd round. The Nets passed on Ryan Gomes in roud two, I think he would have been a nice addition off the bench for us in the 2nd round to be honest, I dont know anything about the guy they took at #43.

Rod Thorn must already be assured that we are going to get something decent upfront in free agency cause he let Cliff Robinson walk and he didnt come out the draft with a bigbody that can help us right now.

WE need a big man someone who can run the floor and can play good D. i think the guy we should go after is Stromile Swift!!!

Hes very athletic and can block shots. He even plays center sometimes for the griz too.Hes young too. The perfect replacement for Kenyon Martin.

Damn, Tomac54 I didnt thinkyou needed that many posts to get your thoughts through to us. I dont see the point in taking Wright over Warrick and the other big men still available. The biggest need on the Nets seems to be a big man and they could've made the hole smaller but its still the same after the draft, but Wright will be a good backup for VC and RJ.

Knowing Thorn, he probably has plans to snatch a big man via free agency or trades...

The Nets biggest wholes are there bench and front court play. Wright was in my opinion the highest ranking shooting guard left in the draft at that point, and they need bench help playing Vince and RJ 48 minutes each night would eventually lead there bodies to break down.

The free agency market for big men is probably the best crop we have seen in recent years. Dalermbert, Chandler, Curry, Swift, Lorenzo Wright (via trade), Kelvin Cato ( via trade), there are many options they can take in aquiring front court help. A player the calieber of Wright will not be in the free agent market for as cheap a price as some big men might be. I think they made a great choice only other selection that would have helped the team more at that point might have been Gerald Green or Granger. However, Green athletic as he may be is not as good a shooter as Wright who shot 45% from three point range last season, and as a high schooler is not a sure thing.

Big ups for the Nets in making a good first round selection in this years draft. I would not be dissappointed if I were a Nets fan right now Wright was projected to go to the Magic at eleven, so to get him at 15 is a good deal. Not only that, but with Jason Kidd 100% next season, and Vince Carter regaining his confidence in taking the ball to the basket, and not relying on his jumper as much. This will give the Nets a player who can provide a big perimeter threat when the defense surround VC when he is driving.

I didnt like this pick at all for NJ, and I felt that they needed to go with height in this draft..they have enough wingmen in Jefferson and Carter, but they need some inside presence...Krstic has, so far, shown he can play in this league, and will be a nice player at the 5 spot...therefore, I think they shouldve gone with Granger, Warrick or even Simien...they need some frontcourt depth...

The Nets got really unlucky because I didn't expect both May and Ike to be taken by their pick. Wright is a good player, but not a good pick for the Nets because they have VC and RJ.

If you've seen them play in the college level, then you can see why they can very well handle themselves against bigger PF's. Graham, Granger, and Warrick would have some difficulty doing so.

Well I dont think Granger is going to really have that hard of a time adjusting cause unlike Warrick he can step out to the perimeter, consistently, so that makes his vesatilty of being able to play the 3/4 more true. And you put him on a team like the Pacers where he will be on the floor with either Artest or Oneal(dependiong on the sub-patterns) almost all the time, he really fits in well because he is playing alongside good defensive forwards, so he can take the easier forward to guard from the opposing team.

no, although we have VC & RJ, but don't u think that they need a legit backup instead of Mercer or Buford ?

PF, we will find them in FA pool...SAR & MARSHALL & SWIFT..

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting The Big Ticket:</div><div class="quote_post">I think the Nets should have gotten Green instead of Wright.</div>

I don't think so, I think drafting him would have given rise to a "too many chefs in the kitchen" situation.

You're right, I wasn't thinking of that then, but since it seems very likely that the Nets will be getting a PF from the FA market, then it's a great pick because they needed a reliable backup at the swing spots.
