Hey, if we can pick him up for something like 3 years, 15 million, I'm not against. Just don't overpay him.

Didn't they mention he is from the area too? He's a nice player/fit.

Can always use a big body that can defend and has some athleticism. But like was already mentioned, I wouldn't overpay.

Would some team give their full MLE for an offensively challenged big? Doubt it (although Dallas may). I'd try $12mm over 3 years.

For a few months of work, gonna offer what Moore showed he was able to over a full year?

that's nearly what the Nets paid Collins, and at the time the Nets gave Twin that contract, he was better than Diop is now. I'd offer him half that, if that.

Collins was overpaid.
I would say 4 for 14 million wouldn't be to bad.

Anybody else think Krstic won't be on the roster next season? I just feel like unless he sucks the rest of the way and accepts the qualifying offer that maybe a team like the 76ers takes a run at him and outbids us.

Hey, in the present NBA, bigs cost money. You can't offer him 7 million for 3 years and hope he stays. 26 year old, athletic big men who can defend in the post, block shots and rebound well aren't cheap, but every team should have a guy like Diop. I think something in the 3-5 million per year range is good. You won't find someone like Diop for cheaper than that, for sure.

What happens with Diop will be controlled by 2 factors;

One; if Swift takes up his option which I can see happening if he cant crack the rotation. He'll go where he can get minutes. He is worth the MLE to some athletically challenged sides.

Two; What happens with Nenad, Namely how much. If Swift and Krstic end up getting their money, Diop, Swat or Boone may be traded, which an S&T for Diop and say Marcus would yield us a good return, especially with one of the Dallas picks. Would a S&T containing Marcus, Diop and Krstic, as well as the Dallas pick be enough to snag an elite frontcourt player?

He's younger than Moore and while Moore was way better than Diop on offense, Diop is better defensively. Knowing what Moore got I think $4mm a year is what it would take to keep him. Hope it's less, but I wouldn't be upset if that were the number. I wouldn't go any higher than that.

I don't think signing Diop has anything to do with Swift and very little to do with signing Nenad.

Also, Swift won't be opting out of his deal.

He's a decent player. He'll hustle a lot as well. He is a billion times better than Collins and Allen.

let him play? is he really that much worse than boone, krstic, swat, and diop? or atleast give him the minutes that boki gets at the 4. i just hope he gets a chance.. he was playing pretty well in the few minutes he played. the way people are talking about diop you would think he's the second coming of shaq, goddamn, imo swift could contribute just as much as diop, just in different aspects of the game.

I really wonder how much Diop can really cost? During last nights game they said his career high in points is 10! That really surprised me. Makes Collins seem like an offensive jugernaut. Even though he doesn't deserve it I can see Cuban throwing the MLE at him to get him back.

Mark and Ian were killing me last night. The gum thing was hysterical. Then after Sagana misses a shot Ian with his "couldn't get the Diop done". Mark compliments him on his free styling. Was a classic game and broadcast.

Chop-a-Diop! Mark says he can free style too. Then there was that dialogue about how Ian can use it and how Mark steals Ian's material.

The magazine thing was funny.

It's such a let down when those two aren't doing the game together. Damn March Madness is going to keep Ian away soon.

Ian Eagle and Mark Jackson both already do national broadcast, Ian with football and college basketball and Marc with ESPN/ABC. Ian Eagle has been here for a very long time so I don't see him going anywhere, as far as Mark Jackson goes I think the only way he leaves is if he gets a position to become an NBA head coach, which will probably happen some time down the road. I do agree though these two dont make me want to go to games, because their chemistry together is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!
