PG: Here we have Kidd and Marbury squaring off. The two point guards are from opposite ends of the spectrum. Kidd is a pass first point guard while Marbury is a point guard that looks for his shot first. Of course, Kidd was traded for Marbury in NJ. I see Marbury having a somewhat off night scoring-wise with the larger Kidd guarding him but I see him picking up 10 assists this game. I see Kidd having a above average night going for 15 / 10 / 8.

SG: Here is a position that can be very interesting this game. Obviously Crawford is a better player than Vaughn. However (to quote Stephen A. Smith) Crawford has been in a slump over the last few weeks. I see him having a big game tonight going for 25 points and 5 assists.

SF: This is a lopsided matchup if I ever saw one. The quick, aggressive Carter against the stupid Tim Thomas. Watching TT try to guard Vince will look like something out of a three stooges routine. Watch Vince go for at least 28 as he schools TT who will have around 10 points.

PF: Two young, promising players go head to head here. Sweetney looks to have the upper hand here, that is if Herb Williams keeps him in the game. Look for Sweet to have a big night going for 15 point and maybe even playing in the fourth quarter.

C: Two primarily defensive players matchup here. Look for them to both have big nights on the boards as neither of these teams is shooting particularly well of late.

MY PREDICTION:

I can?t see the Knicks winning this one or even keeping it close. The Nets have a reason to play and have been playing well of late. Vince will have a big night trying to will the Nets into the playoffs. Final Score: Nets 97, Knicks 83.

Random Movie Quote:
From the Big Lebowski:
Donny, you?re out of your element. You have no frame of referance here. You?re like a child who walks into a movie and asks what goin on.

BTW this is my first preview so please be critical so I can learn how to improve, thanks.

Nets 93:91 Knicks....good....and we are 0.5 game behind sixers... go ! nets...

next game is key, Carter today had three time three-point play...

how come , no other nets fans r riting. is there like only two fans. im just wonderin.anyway, ones again great win and hopefully we will be in the playoffs

Very close game, Vince Carter with his usual 30, and Tim Thomas ... yeah. Anyways I think the key sequence of the game that won this for the Nets, was the Collins jumper (from VC), then Collins steal, leading to a Jason Kidd layup and the foul. Kept the Knicks at bay until TT's shot almost won it for them.

edit: BTW, thanks Jwohl for the insightful preview, but who were you talking about conerning the powerforward matchup? Sweetney vs Krstic I assumed from the writing, but he actually plays the center position.

real close game, but a win is a win.. carter came alive scoring 23 points in 2nd half, and took over the agme in 4th quarter

Not a very surprising or shocking win in my opinion, fact of the matter is that since Kidd has arrived in New Jersey, the Nets own the Knicks 18-3(including last years sweep of the Knicks in the playoffs). And Kidd always finds away to prove why he is better then Marbury, simply by controlling tempo and dictating the pace of the action.

Tonight it just came down to the fact Carter was a nightmare matchup for them especially in the 2nd half and down the stretch. They tried to put Marbury on him at times but he is just too small, so is Crawford. And Tim Thomas and Jerome Williams arent quick enuff to keep up with VC's first step out on the perimeter. So we could get a basket from Carter at any point we needed, simply cause they dont have anyone some cant even put slight resistence on Carter.

I think our frontline played well tonight for the most part Cliff Robinson gave an excellent contribution shooting the basketball. And we did a good job keeping Kurt Thomas in check. The only player I felt on the Knicks frontline really hurt us was Malik Rose, he was able to get to the free throw line and offensive boards anytime he wanted. But other then that, I think it was a solid game from the frontline. And Collins made a huge basket in the 4th off Carter's penetration.

Anyway tonight's the big matchup, we were able to jump past Orlando last night, now we have a chance to create some space from them along with moving into a virtual tie with Philly for that 8th spot.

my bad
