Nets miss out on Gasol

Why the deal would have worked for New Jersey: The Nets might prefer to move Jason Kidd and/or Vince Carter and start rebuilding. But both players are proving difficult to move.

The other direction to go would be to add a low-post scoring presence. Gasol would have been a great fit. The Nets' payroll would have been totally wrapped up in four guys (Kidd, Carter, Gasol, Richard Jefferson), but the team would have become strong again.

Why the deal would have worked for Memphis: The deal would have cleared about the same amount of cap room.

Krstic should be a very nice player again once he recovers from knee surgery. He will be a restricted free agent this summer, but the Grizzlies could have locked him up fairly inexpensively.

And the two first-round picks should be better than those the Lakers gave up.</div>

We would have screwed up with Gasol here anyways haha. Plus the media is making Gasol out to be Kareem. The guy has been swept in every playoff series hes been in.

yeah. It wouldn't really help to add another all star to the island of misfit toys. We pretty much need to blow it up, or at least get rid of Kidd.

this season is shaping up to be quite the drama because mchale did the same thing in shipping out kg to his beloved celtics...lakers-celtics all over again? not to mention shaq vs kobe out west...

I mean, cheater!

Yeah, I still think Krstic will be our best player once he gets fully healthy. At worst I expect 15/7, and I wouldn't be surprised if he got up to being a 20/10 guy soon enough. Plus, we could probably get him a lot cheaper than previously thought. We'd save cash and get 3 players who could be at least good role players. Plus I think Gasol is overhyped and wouldn't really improve us that much, definitely not enough to get over the hump.

Edit: Dumpy, there never was another Vuchato. It was always me. The name change came from a change in my life, which I don't want to switch the thread too. Maybe I'll let yall in on it later.
