The Nets have begun their search for a head coach.

New Jersey president Rod Thorn reached out to Avery Johnson on Wednesday, league sources told FanHouse.

Johnson has already interviewed with Philadelphia and New Orleans.

The Nets haven't scheduled an interview with Johnson, but Thorn is believed to want a head coach in place by next month's NBA Draft.

New Jersey point guard Devin Harris played for Johnson in Dallas and although the two often clashed, he reportedly wouldn't have a problem playing for his former coach.

I thought Avery and Harris had a great relationship in Dallas and Avery was blind sided when they dealt him for Kidd?

I don't think the Nets should commit to anyone until they figure out which free agents are willing to sign up. The draft selection is a no brainer this year so you don't necessarily need a coach signed prior to the selection.
