Rumor Nets still interested in Crabbe

If they were willing to trade that straight across, it's not much but since they can absorb his salary, I'd consider it. Not much return but another asset to use to move up while loosening up the Lux Tax reins.

Per the NY Post.

They have the 22nd pick. Not very attractive.

No disrespect, but are you insane? :-)

Some are talking about tying a pick around Crabbe's neck to get anyone interested. I would jump on Crabbe for 22, as long as we didn't take salary back. NO gets proven right for signing him and gets some value back in the deal. Pick 22 could be packaged or could allow you to take a flyer on Giles or Jeanne or some other reasonable piece.

And you could turn around and trade Meyers with the 22 or 26, win-win.

That is an optimistic way of looking at it. Instead of losing Crabbe for nothing last year, Olshey trades him for a first round pick this year.

Don't you know there is no place for that kind of positive spin round these parts? Podnuh?

Done and Done. No way Nets do a straight up AC-20 swap

I'd trade Crabbe for straight cap relief.

Ideally we could work a trade like this:
Crabbe for space
+
Meyers, Napier, & 15 for Booker & Dinwiddie, & 22

If the Nets will take on Crabbe after another year of little to no development and currently injured--and pay Portland something for the right to the contract--I really hope Olshey doesn't hesitate for a second.

Sadly, despite the title of this thread, the article in no way supports that the Nets "still have interest." It's pretty explicit that the writer is asking whether the Nets might still have interest, given their interest last year.

If the Nets wanted him before, would they still have interest? Or would they feel they dodged an expensive bullet?

Portland Wants to Accumulate Picks, Save Money

Needless to say, it’s extremely unlikely that the Portland Trail Blazers will trade Damian Lillard or CJ McCollum. With that said, the rest of their roster may be available for the right offer.

One general manager said that the team is trying to accumulate draft picks and cut costs. Remember, Portland currently has the second-highest payroll in the league (behind only the Cleveland Cavaliers) at $119 million. And next year, that number jumps to $137 million. That’s not a bad thing when you’re the defending champion Cavs, but it’s a tough pill to swallow when you’re the ninth-best team in the Western Conference standings.

The general manager I spoke to made it clear that Portland would listen to offers for Allen Crabbe, Evan Turner, Al-Farouq Aminu and Ed Davis among others if the potential trades allowed them to stockpile draft picks and save some money.

We need to unload that stupid contract. He has made no improvements. Get rid of him for some young talent

Don't we have to wait until mid July before we could trade Crabbe to Brooklyn? Makes any deal involving 2017 draft picks very unlikely.
That is correct. It is conceivable that they could agree to the deal before the draft and simply not consummate it until 2 weeks later. However, it seems unlikely that the Nets would tie up so much of their cap space in advance of free agency.

I think you guys are too down on Crabbe. Second best 3P shooter in the league this year. That's valuable (i know its mostly spot up)

Making only 1.6 per game sucks.

Get. Him. GONE.

The only guys we have with a lower USG% are Vonleh, Connaughton, and Davis. Yet he's 5th on the team in scoring, making only 10.7 points/game. He's ~two 3PA less than what CJ takes per game. If he takes just two more, he'll likely be scoring closer to 14PPG.

This is why he's going to have a lot of interest by other teams. Especially since shooting is a highly valued commodity among GMs and coaches. Especially to teams that would start him.

I'd add that he's also a draft pick that's panned out decently well.

But you may get your wish should NO trade him.

As the article points out, Crabbe would be a "cheap option" if indeed Porter and KCP demand $25 mil/season (neglecting the kicker, of course).

NONE of that equals 18MM for a bench player. Let him go do that in BK.

Why wouldn't we? Crabbe was a 2nd rounder. I think NO would hop on that deal of Crabbe for the #22.

Because that doesn't improve our team. Crabbe is better than a salary dump but I've defended him so many times this will probably be the last time I do it.

Yeah it should be. You're in the minority here. ESPECIALLY since the #22, IMHO, will probably be a better player than Crabbe. Screw 44% when you're not aggressive.

Odds say otherwise.
