so I'm listening to the buzz in Chicago radio, alot of fans want Vince Carter IDK why but they do, they want Carter and Williams, first off w/ VC it doesn't matter to me but if you can get TT, Thabo and Nocioni I'd rethink it but dammit I don't want to trade Marcus or Josh or Sean

If a deal with the Bulls goes through, we'll probably have to pick up some bodies. We'll probably need a bigman since Krstic isn't back yet, and it probably wouldn't hurt if they could play multiple positions since that's what Frank likes to do. Heck, in a perfect world they could come in without much adjustment time because they already know our offense.

At least buckner tries on Defence. I just cant see us taking on the shimmy for less than a draft pick and I cant see the wolves giving away McCants without a pick... STALEMATE
 
not sure how i feel about this. i love what noc brings. i think he can bring some of the emotional firepower that kenyon gave us. i think his attitude will rub off and would love to have him, but marcus is involved. sometimes i see him as a lost cause, then remember that he is a kid who just came off surgery. he got a lot of praise from management/coaches during the summer. how his workin habits were better and he was in great shape.

like everyone else, i see flashes that marcus can take us into the future, but at times you see his horrible defense and bad play. i think with marcus it just is a little too early to give up on the guy. point guard is extremely hard for someone to pick up and be great at unless if you have a real gem like chris paul or deron williams.

if we could keep marcus that would be great. what about sending vince and gettin back deng or gordon? i havent done the trade checker thing, just saying things outloud. if we could get a deng or gordon for vince, we can give the new group a shot and maybe it would be easier to just fully rebuild by sending kidd out. it wont happen because ratner loves vince too much, but it would be nice to me
 
Fans want VC, but I don't think the owners want to pay his contract with Deng and Gordon up. If so they're basically dumping Gordon also. I can't see them keeping Gordon....then again, Deng-VC=RJ-VC?? but if Paxson listens to the fans......Thorn gotta get it done. Noc and Thabo for VC.
 
Thinking it out from the Nets perspective, I'm not really sure if brings to you over the top. Nocioni is sort of a rich man's Nachbar. A 3/4 shooter, but better in every phase of the game. Thabo is no guarantee to pan out, but he's got a fair shot and he's definitely got a better chance than any of the guys you're giving up.

I don't think it makes the Nets a contender, but it also doesn't put you over the luxury tax threshold either, I don't think. Assuming Krstic gets healthy, you end up with something like

1- Kidd, Armstrong, Gill
2/3 - RJeff, Carter, Thabo
3/4 - Noc
4/5 - Williams, Krstic, Boone, Collins

I dunno, that doesn't look too bad to me. It doesn't look like a team that's gonna win the title, but it definitely seems better.

I think you have to look at it this way, is Noc and Thabo valuable enough for you to give up Marcus, pay a lux tax and take on cap space in future years? Does this set you up for another trade....something to move Kidd out and bring in a Bibby?

Nocioni stays on the perimeter he shoots, yes he has heart and for you to say Marcus doesn't have the fire at 22 yrs. old are you serious ? he came back from injury early, worked w/ John Lucas extensively and has shown some potential in taking over the team for the future, the kid is 6 - 17 from 3 PT range and averages like 2 APG in limited time, people said the same crap about Deron Williams and look what he did in Utah, Marcus is damn good. A lot of you will regret this trade if he's part of it. As for Antoine Wright he gets inconsistent minutes and has a horrible coach I'm sorry but example LF in LA when Kobe was getting shut down by AW switched on the last possesion to Kidd, how is this kid suppose to believe in himself after these moves ? or not getting a second vs Jamal Crawford...

Hey, it's Wright's 3rd year in the league, if he's got confidence issues, that's on him, he needs to man up and grow a pair. The fact is, it's not a confidence thing. He doesn't have the ability. He doesn't even have a "go to" move, other than the half-hearted pump fake & drive into a charge play, which we've all seen for 3 years now. And he's overrated as a defender. I've seen him get taken off the dribble a ton of times, or give ticky tack fouls. He had a five game stretch where he started and did nothing special with it. He's had his chances.

Regarding Marcus, if he ever learns how to shoot or defend, yes, he could be good. He's not a future all-star. Is he even as good as say Mike Bibby, who's never been to an All-Star game? No way. The best Marcus Williams is going to do is maybe a Tinsley-like career and that's about it. I'm just saying in no way should Marcus be considered untradeable. Area 51 on the other hand, should be off limits.

Marcus, Wright, Boki and Mags for Nocioni AND Thabo?

Actually, this trade would make me less resistant to an RJ-Sean for a big man trade. RJ's a great player, but Noc would be a MUCH better fit with VC than RJ.
 
Anyone who doesn't find this trade as a steal for the Nets...well, you confound me. RJ's injured right now, and Noc comin in and reducing RJ's minutes would be nice to see.

Also, Marcus isn't all that great. People are seemingly overrating him at this moment in his career. Tinsley does seem like a viable comparison, except for the fact that Marcus has a tad bit worse defense.

Right now, Noc>Antoine+Boki, and Thabo>=Marcus. And Mags isn't even an issue here. Now if only we could get rid of Malik, too...
 
The only problem is even after a trade where you replace Boki with Nocioni, you still have only one shooter in Nocioni coming off the bench. They would still have a backup SG who can't shoot in either Wright or Sefolosha if he's included in a trade. I think it would better if you can get a back up SG with offensive skills than replacing Boki with Nocioni. A guy like Rashad McCants would seem to fit, but what is a guy like him worth?

We keep our young guys Boone, Williams/s. And we can compete with a lineup of:

B. Wallace/ S.Williams
N. Krstic/ J. Boone/ Allen
Nocioni/ Boki
V. Carter/ Thabo
J. Kidd/ M. Williams/ Armstrong

Krstic gets a protector in Wallace. Wallace can teach our young bigs to rebound and play better defense. We get a shooter in Nocioni and our offense can revolve around Carter again. We can compete with this lineup while also building for the future with our young guys. And most of our big contracts expire around the same time.

Boki sucks now, though. He isn't the shooter he used to be, Nocioni's way better than him.

Rashad McCants is a young guy, who's steadily improving and it'd prolly take alot...I'm thinking more than we'd like to give up (Sean, Josh). IMO he's too important to Minny's future, and they probably wouldn't want to give him up.

Of course, we could steal Salim Stoudamire from the Hawks, or someone of that nature.
 
The infatuation with Marcus Williams on this board is ridiculous. He is not a good player. Period. We would be giving up 4 non contributors for a legitimate sixth man and tough as nails player. Exactly what this team needs. No brainer.

give me a break the kid is 22 yrs. old , you remember how Jason Kidd played at 22 yrs. old ? or Steve Nash, it's a developement process and he has shown he can absolutely run an offense and make shots , the diapers need to come off that's the only problem. LF and his stupidity in using the rotations, he took forever to figure out SW and Boone needed more minutes, it's funny AW was being used wrong, MW was riding the pine because of who ? D.A. , Armstrong isn't going to be here in the future how the hell does that make sense ...

I actually think he's a good basketball player with a sub-NBA work ethic. Doesn't mean I feel any better about him than you do, though. He needs to go to the AND1 tour or something.

I'd love to trade him while other GMs still think he has value.
