thats what i thought.. come on, we are at least in front of the knicks..

If one of the kids (Lopez, Yi, Anderson, SWat) doesn't show he's a player this season, Nets could be the worst team in the East.

Anything is possible. We have no idea what this team is capable of and who knows how long it could take to adopt a new offense, especially seeing as the old one took about a good season for everybody to get comfortable in.

I have a question. With all the experts picking the Nets to be the doormats of the conference, how many wins will they need for Frank to get consideration for coach of the year? 40? 45?

what were the experts saying the first year we went to the finals, before the season started?
an exaggeration, but still...

Jason Kidd set a goal of 41 wins that first season. Most people thought he was overreaching a bit.

I like when these idiot analysis predict we are going to suck. Then by allstar break, they are eating their words. "Ah..Oh...Ah!!!!"

I love being the underdog.

That said, I hope we dont get into the playoffs. I want a top five pick. LOL

The I'm pretty sure the Knicks went 3-1 against us last year.

I'm saying that the Knicks were better than us last year, and we're not as good a team now. Long term? Sure.

Devin and Vince are two better players than the best player on some teams in the conference, and we have very good depth, along with good chemistry and high upside. So I don't see it happening.

I'm saying the Knicks matched up well against the Nets, but against the rest of the NBA, the Nets were a better team.

I just finished reading all of the Analysis and I thought it was a joke...no offense to Golden State, but given everything, I think the Clippers are better than them. They also said Richard Jefferson can play D...so I stopped there....Milwaukee sure has the offense in Jefferson, Redd, and Bogut with Villanueva, but please, they aren't any good beyond that...their big replacement for Mo Williams? Ridnour and Jones? please...

I'm not a big Nets fan, not that I hate them, just have other teams as my favorites...but you guys are better than the Knicks, Bucks, Bobcats, and maybe even Atlanta if you guys can pull it together...I think the younger guys can play, and I believe they step up this year. I also think Bobby Simmons makes a comeback, not phenomenal, but very decent.

I also think OKC and Memphis are closer to each other than they say....I wouldn't count out the OKC youth beating out Memphis. Both teams really have no bench, but for now I think OKC is built better.

I think there's some subjectivity here, as well as interpretations of "worst." I have no problem saying that the Knicks will finish at the bottom of the win-loss rankings, but it doesn't quite sit right when you can also say they're better than us; just my opinion.

These experts are dumasses. There the ones who thought that the nets were going to the playoffs last year and beat the celts. So anything could happen.

They are putting more weight in "star" players and not enough credit for depth.

Between Carter and Harris and the new depth this team will be better than that. Especially since the depth benefits the new offense.

WHy don't you think the Nets are as good a team?

I think a lot needs to be said about RJ's familiarity of the Nets system, along with the dependability of getting his scoring. Jarvis and Dooling have improved our bench, but I don't see where we pick up RJ's scoring out put and I don't see us being any better defensively, except for where Dooling has upgraded Marcus' position.

certainly anything can happen, but a case can be made that the Nets have improved because:
(1) Jason Kidd was a negative influence, didn't consistently give forth maximum effort, and had declining skills
(2) Devin Harris will prove to be superior to Kidd on both ends of the court
(3) RJ did not play defense and was complaining about his role behind the scenes
(4) Vince was injured most of the year
(5) The Nets' bench has drastically improved and is deeper
(6) All the poor defenders and negative influences have been removed from the team and replaced by team-oriented players that, as a whole, are better shooters and better defenders
(7) The Nets are younger
(8) the Nets have more players with "upside," including Yi, Sean, and the rookies
(9) For one of the worst players in the league last year, Nenad Krstic sure played a lot.

Hey if the Nets are last they may get a top 3 pick. Be optimistic. Yi Jianlian's still young.

I agree with a lot that's here, although youth and upside are things that will benefit us in the long term, rather than immediate returns next year. I certainly enjoyed watching the Devin-lead team, although he ended up losing more games than he won, and this was when Vince got healthy.

Vince still wasn't 100% though, he required the surgery after the season. He easily could have shut it down during the season and had the surgery and we'd probably would have had a top 5 pick if that happened, but I'm happy that Vince didn't give up. It was a prelude to his dedication which has started this season- the sucessful surgery, helping out the kids at the Orlando league, and showing up to practice in NJ.

Don't forget the team was out of it and they were trying to run & gun and be a high scoring team that played little defense. That's not Devin's game and that will be corrected this season.

The Nets could be the worst team in the east, they have the most question marks going into the season. They will be a lot better than most people think.

The first thing that comes to mind is: ok, well then why did Devin play that way, and has anything significant changed for this season? At this point I'm used to the organization saying the right things but not seeing anything come to fruition.

I'd argue that the team was learning how to play together on the fly, because there were just so many new faces. It is unfair to read anything into it. Also, Devin was obviously still feeling the aftereffects of his injur(ies).
