Thanks man. there really are no Knicks fans right now, and if there are, they need to get on meds. The only decent guy on that team to root for is David Lee, and he'll probably be trade bait since I heard Walsh doesn't want to extend him.

Man everyone is so friendly here...and optimistic. heh definetely things that Knicks fans have been missing for a while. ya'll have to forgive me if I reference Lord Vodermo...err I mean the Dolans once in a while, I've only been detoxed for a couple of years. They can't put up that arena in downtown fast enough.

If you are happy with this trade, that's all the proof anyone needs that this isn't a sign that the team is willing to rebuild and stink for the next three years.

OK, so were gonna suck next year, but wed have a decent crop of young players(and bigs), cap room, and a guy on our radar who shall remain nameless but rhymes with Bebron Games
 
Don't assume the Nets will suck next year.

They have a ton of assets and they just keep piling up more.

The KVH contract has an expiration date and will be traded over the summer.

They could trade for a lot of talent between now and October.

at this point, it seems likely that Alexander lasts to us. On DX, who Dumpy and NI don't like, they mentioned Randolph was at the top of the list of our targets, although that could be untrue, and especially seems like overkill with Yi. But who knows. Alexander also wanted to go to Milwaukee for Yi, because he speaks Mandarin, so it seems fairly likely that he will be a Net, especially since he fits a need now. Assuming we don't move up. This also seems like it makes it more likely that we take a wing/guard at 21 (Chalmers/CDR), or we move it.
 
HEH... i am excited for the change... i really feel that we coulda gotten more and i havent seen yi enough to see what he can actually bring to the nets... i dont want us to suck i want us to make the playoffs and contend :/ i miss the playoff game energy at continental wait i mean "izod" hehe....


well lets hope this pans out really well for us... i wonder what else is left for us

I'm in agreement with you. I think that off-court, this is a stellar move. I believe that the Houston Rocket's unofficial fan site went from 10k members to something like 20k members in the years since Yao's arrival. Even garbage players like Chuck frigging Hayes has a shoe contract in China cuz of Yao. CHUCK Hayes!!!

Just think of how easy it will be for the Nets to attract future free agents. Say we need a vet like PJ Brown (just as an example). We can now tell him that if he plays well and throws a couple of passes to Yi, he just might get a shoe contract, not to mention the adoration of millions of screaming Chinese girls. Chuck frigging Hayes can move to China and get a different date every night because of Yao! DeSagana Diop is probably already rolling out the red carpet.

On court wise, err I just hear Yi's got lots of potential. Simmons can defend and has a very good work ethic. If he's healthy, he will be a very very good addition to the Nets.

Just speculation from a couple Nets beat writers. Makes it more likely for Alexander to come to the Nets.
 
btw I do like DX, I just think some of their "scoops" are just misdirections planted by a team's FO.

Carter can move into SF easily if they draft a shooting guard, I'm not too worried about that.
 
....Alexander(fluent in mandarin) is destined to team with Yi as his translator.

Could be Yi, could be Vince, could be a draftee, could even be Sean Williams.

Yi has to get as good as Yao before you start talking about similar marketing advantages. He's certainly an icon in China, but Yao didn't become what he is simply living off of his pre-NBA status. He became a damn good NBA player as well. While Yi could certainly do the same, there's no guaranteeing how he turns out.
 
Simmons will start at SF
at least our current roster says that

I'm willing to bet that Simmons will start. Frank likes veterans who are good shooters. And he's a hardworking player.

That would be terrible. Just terrible. Bobby Simmons is waaaaaaaay better than Hassell. It should be a given that he starts.
 
what other trades u think are goin to happen for the nets?
 
I don't know the board's feelings on Vince, but I was kinda hoping that the Nets would move him. He's always hurt and when he isn't hurt, then he's PMSing or his uterus is bothering him. Too bad the Bucks wouldn't take him over RJ. That would have been a coup.
 
Nothing against Joe Alexander, I wouldn't be mad if we took him, but this stockpiling of assets makes the deal with Portland pretty nice right about now. We got our bigman and we can shore up backup pg and wing by selecting Brandon Rush.

Vince is going to get Yi a good amount of looks at the basket, more than RJ anyway.

From what I heard, he played hard when he felt like it and it was almost never in the 4th. There's a lot of haters, especially in the media, who don't cover some players farily, but Carter's rep is well deserved IMO.
