VC isnt done... nor does he cry... carter has been a mature and professional since hes been with the nets... nor has he missed significant amount of time since hes been a net....

Cap Space and a nice draft pick next summer is what's in the cards for the Nets.

Carter's contract is probably the ugliest in the NBA. He's 31 or 32 and signed until he's 36.

There's a nice core of at least 4 younger players to rebuild around, plus the three picks tonight. Not sure any of the picks are going to blossom into more than nice supporting players, tho.

Next season is going to be ugly.
 
Let me add to my previous post. If the Nets aren't sold on Yi, he could be moved almost immediately, maybe for a chance to move up in the draft.

From what I heard, he played hard when he felt like it and it was almost never in the 4th. There's a lot of haters, especially in the media, who don't cover some players farily, but Carter's rep is well deserved IMO.

Guy's like Boone and Moore have benifited most from having a guy like Vince on the team.

Carter is SO underrated it is a joke. He's a great player who played on an ankle that required surgery immediately after the season ended. He still has that "soft" label, but look how many games he's missed since he became a Net.

IMO it's gonna be a good season, either way. Either we're good, we win more than we lose. OR we get to watch young players develop, and get better as the season progresses.

I'm prepared, either way.

Form the games I saw him play (probably about 10) last year, he seemed to jack up a lot of 3's at inopportunistic times, and stayed away from contact. he had maybe one or two games that I saw where he "took over" in the 4th. Not enough considering how muc he gets paid.

As I see it, you give the young guys all the PT they can handle without fouling out. You want to suck for next season, to get a lot of ping pong balls in the lottery. Next summer, you could have #1 in the draft and money to sign a full boat FA (and more) and a core of young players with seasoning.

In two years, people may be thinking that Thorn is a genius.

Just read on Warriors board, that if available, Katz is still going to pick Alexander.
 
Obviously Alexander's athleticism is what stuns you, but having read and looked at a lot of clips lately, he has a SOLID midrange game, decent post game, and his work ethic, competitiveness, and desire to improve are absolutely unsurpassed. He competes well defensively and is willing to be physical. To top that off, he outbenched Joey Dorsey and every single player at the draft camp (except one), finished second overall in the 3/4 court sprint (can you say fast break finisher extrodinaire?), and is easily one of the best leapers at his height to enter the league in many a year. Barring severe injury (knock on wood), he will be an all star at some point in his career. I will bet a large sum of money on that.

Yi has 3 point range. Allen Iverson has a 31% career 3PT% and he's not a 19 year old 7-footer who moved from China to Milwaukee.

I can't wait til we trade Vince...cause it's gonna happen and then I won't have to hear about getting Elton Brand or how Carter and Lebron will lead us to a championship...when Carter is 34 years old.

I would trade him straight up for Stephen Marbury tomorrow.
 
Lil' toast to the fact that we are not 6 months from JKidd forcing his way out, not a year removed from a run of NBA finals appearances, Eastern Conference Champions, and consecutive years in the playoffs. Essentially one of the best runs and teams in the NBA for most of a decade, and in 6 months, Thorn might have this entire team regrouped, restarted, 3/4 of the way to rebuilt, with young athletic talent, AND Cap space(if you're into LeBron or that kind of thing).

The Nets need shooters. Yi isn't the answer for that.

If you think he has no range, you are wrong. Ever watch him? All I said is he has more range than Krstic, which he does.

Gallinari isn't a shooter, either. Brandon Rush is a shooter. Your boy Eric Gordon is a shooter.

Can't get Marbury for him. Walsh said straight out he isn't trading Marbury.
 
At the moment I'm kind of disappointed but let's see how things look at the end of the draft.
 
I we completed the Portland trade Robin Lopez wouldn't look bad at 13...physical frontcourt player like Josh Boone who compliments the style of Yi and Swat.
 
OMG and if we draft Gallinari you can call me Nostradamus... err not really but I did post a while ago that we should trade for Yi to help increase our ticket sales. But dammit I meant it more in a joking way. WTF!!

Sad day though. I like RJ and he was an important part of this team and the greatest era we as Nets fan have (in the NBA) ever had.

I absolutely hate this deal. Would have been better if the Bucks included their #8 pick. and FYI, Alexander is over-rated .
