pretty simple solution. First thing about security is to not over think it. Chain link fence around the perimeter. Corridor from walk to front door. Guard station at walk. guard behind bullet proof glass to allow into building. Guard at metal detector. Pass through , present valid student ID, go to class. If you do not belong on campus, you do get to stay.

Reading about the parkland shooting, the kid tried to shoot through the bullet proof windows (on the 2nd floor?) at the kids fleeing, but the bullets didn't get through.

Waiting for the dog or barfo to come up with the flamethrower burns up the bullet proof glass scenario.

Another place that does not have mass shootings, private schools

They are not gun free zones so they have not become Killing Zones.
Perhaps the Kids are more stable?
Most do have armed personnel on grounds, I know the school my oldest Grandson attended, did.

yeah...funny how that worked, should have had it in the entrance with a guard

Following the Las Vegas massacre last year, and facing outcry after the murders at a Florida High School last week (and 17 others in 2018 alone), President Trump has directed AG Sessions to clarify if 'bump stocks' are illegal; and to propose regulations to "ban all devices that turn legal weapons into machine guns."

Mr Trump made the announcement at the White House Tuesday, saying that he had signed a memorandum instructing the Justice Department to regulate the firearm accessories that can speed up the rate of fire for semi-automatic rifles.

The president also said he is"grieving for the community of Parkland in the great state of Florida."

"We're working very hard to make sense of these events," the president told members of law enforcement and first responders there Tuesday.

"We cannot imagine the depth of their anguish, but we can pledge the strength of our resolve," he said.

"And we must to do more to protect our children. We have to do more to protect our children."

Also says focus will be, "common sense security measures and addressing mental health issues"

The president also called for better physical protection of schools, and for better coordination between federal and state law enforcement in order to take "swift action" when there are warning signs.

I'm not sure banning bump stocks will do any good. From what I've read, shooters simply bring enough weapons and magazines to keep on shooting without too much time to reload. And the bump stocks seem like something plenty easy to jury rig.

This is a feel good piece that he will use to leverage a little common sense security. Gives the left and the right both a win. As far as I am concerned, to give up the ability to own some gimmicky piece of trash for just one childs life, go for it. If I want to make a semi auto into a full auto, well, I know how and its not that tough.

Well, my neighbor had a 25/20 auto way back. Held 14 round in the tube magazine.
Hell today you can have a .22 with a 110 round drum. That has been available for more than 40 years. But you ask a good questions about glamorous!
What is that? Where does it come from? Games?
Probably games. Those games are extremely fun.

I’m in favor of banning bumpstocks, and I would rather some asshole have to make one himself that might not work, than just buy one.

I'll let the President negotiate this one. I am sort of glad to get to hear one operate though. Now I know what it sounds like to hear it burn part of a magazine like a full auto slowed to half rate, then stop cold, jammed. Now you can rush him and pop him, two to the liver, one to the head.
