Years ago when Portland threw it's hat in the ring for the (then) Expos, local Tribes volunteered to pay for 100% of the cost to build a MLB ready stadium, as long as the city would allow casino in the city limits.

I thought Teddy K nixed it (Or was it the mayor who nixed that). If it was the G who did it, what does the new Governor feel about loosening the restrictions on casinos?

Can casinos be good for a city (and not just the tribe)?

Did Mayor Adams approach the local tribes to try to pay for a MLB/AAA stadium in Portland?

btw, yes I know Portland 'couldn't' support a MLB team, or there's not enough big businesses here, blah blah or whatever. That's not what I'm talking about.

I just got tired of people repeating the same argument over and over in those threads ABM started.

Melbourne, Australia has the Crown Casino right downtown on the river. Very classy, lots of shops and restaurants surrounding it. Guess what? They have three major sports complex's within walking distance, most famously the Rod Laver Arena.

My only concern would be addressing the homeless population..

If this were to happen I think this would be a partnership between Grand Ronde and Chinook Winds as a casino in Portland would definitely put a hurting on both of their coastal casinos.
