Frank Sinatra.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner...try some Son House and Elvis too ;)

Here's some ppl I've been listening to lately, not sure what you listen to:

hip hop/rap:
Asher Roth
3Oh!3
Hollywood Undead
Snowgoons
One Block Radius

Different types Rock:
The Killers (listed numerous times already)
TV/TV (Pop)
TV on the Radio (bluesy soul roots rock)
Danger Radio (Pop)
Family Force 5 (Dancy Crunk meets rock? Hard to explain but they're pretty cool)
Franz Ferdinand (Euro type rock)
Mando Diao (Euro type rock)
Bayside (Garage/early punk guitar)
Ace Enders (Mellow Alternative rock) - I think his band was "The Early November"
The Faint (synthesizer rock)
Innerpartysystem (synthesizer rock)
The Raconteurs (Has the White Stripes guitarist)

The White Stripes + The Black Keys = a blues rock piano ;)

Both are pretty good bands if one likes blues rock. The Little Killers are also good.

For anyone who likes The Killers, I'd highly recommend The Strokes. Both are guitar pop, but while I like The Killers, I think The Strokes are even better. Especially their first two albums, Is This It and Room On Fire.

When you have to tell people who the strokes are.... oh dear.

Im getting fucking old.

I've been enjoying Los Campesinos! lately (be patient, the song eventually starts around 1:20 or so)

I like that one. The xylophone is a highly under-utilized instrument in rock music. :)

(But then I always liked Jethro Tull's ability to somehow make a flute rock. Or the White Stripes' ability to jam with nothing but a drum and a piano.)

The wife will like the cockney accent.

She digs The Streets, which I find pretty annoying after about five minutes. Sounds like a drunk yob rambling to random music after a football match.

Try some Rick Astley, then.

barfo, I'm never gonna give you up.

Even if you are about 38 internet memes behind everyone else.

I've been listening to the Pixies non-stop lately. You might already be familiar with them but I just recently really got into them after only hearing a few of their more popular songs.

They are truly amazing.

The Pixies are one of the greatest bands ever. I had a phase, also, where I listened to them non-stop.

I can't help it if my only knowledge of the internets comes from S2.

Chili Peppers can never get old, there are just so many good albums, and so many different musical styles to their albums, if you want Rock, you got Rock Albums like Californication. You want Funk you got their old stuff. You want a brilliant Mix of Rock and Funk with a whole bunch of Masculinity.. you have BSSM. Feeling lighter and happy? By The Way is great. Amazing band to me, and even more amazing is their story and how they started out as kind of a joke band.

Agreed.

Whoops forgot to mention Stadium Arcadium has a mix of everything. And man have you seen them live? Most kick ass shows I have EVER seen.

I have yet to hear a Chili Peppers song that doesn't make me want to rip my eardrums out of my head with a pair of needlenose pliers.

I'm wrong? You mean I don't want to rip my eardrums out of my head with a pair of needlenose pliers, I want to suck them out through my nose with a penis pump?

lol Hey whatever gets your kind off. I just am sorry you are wrong about the RHCP. But we can still be friends right?

When I hear the Red Hot Chili Peppers, I usually pour molten lead into my ears through a funnel.
It kills the sounds alright.

Do the Chili Peppers sing any songs that aren't about California?

I can't listen to any of them long enough to figure out what they're about. I like the lead idea, but don't you run the risk of heavy metal poisoning?

yes they have a song called "Especially in Michigan" and another one called "Sexy Mexican Maid" obviously being about Mexico ;)

Just thought I'd bump this to say thanks for the suggestions. So far I'm really into the Pixies, Vampire Weekend and Belle & Sebastian tunes. Going on a trip to the coast tomorrow and plan on loading up a lot more songs.

If you're a fan of Jack White, he's in a new band called "The Dead Weather." They just released an album a couple weeks ago.

And if you're into RHCP, especially their earlier albums, I highly suggest Funkadelic. I've been on P-Funk binge for a while now. Their first 4 albums are great and have a lot of variety (their first two give you more of the funk sound, their 3rd features Hendrix-esque guitar playing, the 4th if more overtly political).

The new Rancid album kicks ass... Let the Dominoes Fall. There are some great acoustic versions of the songs available on iTunes also.

My favorite song from it:

This year, so far, my favourite albums have been from The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart (noise pop/shoegaze), Grizzly Bear (psychedelic indie pop), jj (balearic dance-pop), Super Furry Animals (hmm...eclectic indie pop? ;)) and El Goodo ('60s-style guitar pop).
