I love what Andre has brought to us this season, without his play I think LaMarcus is averaging 19ppg. Dre is the reason this team is leading the league in alley-oops. Can you think of any other McMillian years where his team is even in the top10?

Also, I don’t think New Jersey cares much about Dre as a player, they just want his contract, so I’d push like hell to have Joel in there instead of Dre. Would it work long term with Dre and Harris? Probably not. Maybe it’s unrealistic for me to think of caring two PG. I just don’t like the idea of losing Miller to a team that doesn’t care about his on the court contributions.

I’m also not totally convinced Harris will be a long term better option than Dre. In 4 years Dre will be 38 and Harris 32, it’s probably unlikely but I think its possible Dre could even have a better game at that point in time.

Yes I know Harris is a better player, more talented and should make us a more legit team on paper in the long-term. A year or two ago I would have jumped at this deal in a heartbeat. Now I feel like we have to make the trade but I’m uneasy about taking the plunge.

Hehe. I see what you did there. See, this is why we need mathematical parenthetical operators in natural language.

For example, if you want to subtract 3 from 7 and then multiply the result by 4, you'd do: (7 - 3) * 4. If you just did "7 - 3 * 4" it's vague and ill-defined (which is why order of operations was instituted).

So, in the above, I could have written "I'd do (Miller for Harris)." And that would have a very distinct meaning from "I'd do Miller (for Harris)" as you implied I meant.

Or maybe the fun of comedically misinterpreting language isn't worth losing.

Was ^^^^ supposed to be funny? Too wordy, IMO.

Keep it short. Think "why the long face?", or something similar.

It wasn't supposed to be funny. I've wanted mathematical operators in language for a long time. This just gave me a venue to champion my lifetime cause for natural language parenthetical operators.

It was supposed to be a keen linguistic insight. :sigh: Maybe I need to be posting on the New Yorker forums. Does the New Yorker have web forums?

This move could cost us playoffs.

Btw can we just have a sticky thread for lame jokes instead of killing real topics with nonsense?

Kind of the opposite of us always killing all your nonsense threads with real posts huh?

Wouldn't that account for roughly 98% of your posts?...KA-POW!

Thank you, thank you. I'll be here all week. Try the prime rib and don't forget to tip your servers!

If this trade only costs us Miller and not Rudy as well, I think we are still a lock for the 8th seed at worst. Don't forget that Denver w/o Melo is brutal.

If we're gonna do this, do it after the LA game. If it happens now or tomorrow, we won't have either Harris or Dre for that very important game.

Besides that, I don't like giving up Rudy in addition. I'd throw in Babbit first.

Good post. WRepped. Should go for a Pascal like "begin... end" syntax because it is... wait for it... more English like!

It kind of sucks, but you absolutely have to take this deal if you are Portland. Must get younger.

Waiting to hear the final proposal.

I'd probably give up Babbit for a 2nd rounder, I just dont think he has value. If we trade Rudy instead of Babbit its the other teams preference.

Indeed, Very bitter sweet. Dre has been my favorite player over the last year. True glue guy.

Hope the final deal doesn't include Rudy, I think he's yet to reach his ceiling and will if he stays in the right place

On trading Rudy...

1. Perhaps cho will find a replacement with another trade

2. We will trade a pick instead.

3. Rudys replacement might be Roy.

Honestly, in all this Melo & Harris BS I'd rather keep Dre and somehow end up with Billups as our backup pg.

Dre & Billups would be fine for the next 3 years.

And 3 years is an eternity in NBA years.

@KBerg_CBS
Harris would go to NJ if the Nets can keep their Carmelo Anthony pursuit alive. So Portland deal appears to be backup plan.

Blazers and Nets continue to discuss Andre Miller-Devin Harris swap, sources say. Deal includes other pieces but not Rudy Fernandez.

My first thought too! First priority: BEAT LA!

lets not forget IMO there is a good chance we are "buying" Harris low, the guy can play and for several reasons may be having an off yr,

Except that he's not really having an off-year. His PER is right in-line with the rest of his career averages, but on the plus side his assist rate and assist totals are way up.

With the press this deal getting I'm guessing it's dead

Canzano is pretty much the only one calling this NY-DEN deal "done."

Why do people even discuss rumors when they never happen. Its obvious the 'fragrant one' is sitting on his hands again.

Stick a fork in it, were toast.

Last 2 big blazer deadline deals that went down were on Monday's
