well that dream for this year was a pipe dream after the major injuries we have had. Sometimes you have to accept reality. You think GS is happy about this year. Probably one of their worst off seasons by losing Durant and Iggy and then the injuries to compound it. Sometimes shit happens that you can't control.
Good point. And if Curry didn't get hurt, we may not even be in a race to make playoffs at this point. Top 7 teams plus Warriors may have put to much room between us and them. .Also- Dame maybe doesn't make AS team.

Nice stretch for Ant. Finishes the half as the 2nd leading scorer for the Blazers.

I think the odds of us having 2 open roster spots to end the season are higher than having 0.

What Olshey said about Zach is somewhat concerning...

it was very predictable though. After the surgery they said he'd be re-evaluated in 4 months. That's the 1st week in March. So then, if it's a positive evaluation they'd clear him for some BB activity but it would still probably take 3 weeks, or more before he'd be ready. And a shoulder injury is more prone to re-injury than most other injuries. Maybe the best case is Zach starts playing again with 2-3 weeks left in the season. But it could be later

I'm guessing he'll be back sometime in mid-late March, but any little setback, like Nurkic had, could end the season for him

I would not put Skal in the very good category

reb rate:
Hassan Whiteside 23.4 Skal Labissière 15.3 Mario Hezonja 11.5 Nassir Little 10.3

assist rate:
Damian Lillard 35.2 CJ McCollum 16.8 Skal Labissière 10.3 Anfernee Simons 9.2

block rate:
Hassan Whiteside 8.5 Skal Labissière 4.6 Nassir Little 2.4 Kent Bazemore 2.3

winshares/48:
Damian Lillard .235 Hassan Whiteside .208 Skal Labissière .124 Rodney Hood .089

DBPM:
Hassan Whiteside 3.2 Skal Labissière 1.6 Kent Bazemore 0.7

BPM:
Damian Lillard 7.0 Hassan Whiteside 3.2 Skal Labissière 1.1 Rodney Hood -0.4

Skal may not have been "very" good, but he was certainly effective and impactful

the Blazers were going to trade one of Skal, Hezonja, or Gabriel to save money. The only reason it was Skal is because of the injury

Remember Meyers pretty much injured his shoulder at the end of one season (March?) and didn't play well for most of the next if i remember right? Shoulders are kind of screwy that way.

same thing with Przybilla....he had a recurring shoulder problem that stretched over 2+ seasons.

I really liked Skal. Giving him away like that is some serious penny pinching by the new owner.

I wish I could pinch pennies and save 2.5 million. I'd be pinching 24-7. Well actually, I'd probably pinch for a while than end up sitting on a tropical beach for a lot longer while

Olshey alluded that they weren't sure if and when Skal would be able to play this year and he was going to be a FA as well so he was dead salary as well as costing more with tax. He played well for us and hope he is able to make a full recovery.

yeah, I think it's pretty clear that if Skal had been healthy it would have been Hezonja or Swanigan traded to Atlanta

Didn't even bother reading this thread (I will eventually) because this stupid fucking organization doesn't fucking care about winning.

Imagine not signing Kanter last year JUST so Jody can have an extra million? That's literally their stance this year. It's not like Olshey got out of the tax and signing a player would put us back in the tax! It doesn't fucking matter.

And even in the historic perspective, our tax bill is not THAT high. It's $5.9 mil. The whole "highest payroll in the league" crap is annoying.

The way i see it, a franchise which doesn't bother to spend some money and use it's free roster spots as an audition stage to test dozens of players who are undrafted\free agents\International FAs is not worthy of the NBA playoffs.

That's right, the Houston Rockets are better competitors than us.

Doesn’t make it any less true.

I'm so pissed off with the half ass-ness of everything. If you don't want to pay the tax, I TOTALLY GET IT, but our incompetent GM couldn't even do that right. Instead we still have to pay tax, aren't interested in improving the roster this year, and did nothing to improve future talent or flexibility.

Then to listen to that stupid fuck's interview where he contradicted himself or lied at least 5 times was such a spit in the face to the fans.

That is hilarious. Why? because we didn't acquire Batum's unbearable ugly contract. That would have sure made us a winning team, lmao!

I'm sure the Rockets will welcome you and hoopsjock as fans. Good luck.

I will, thanks. It doesn't make you mad they won't even consider the buyout market?

holy shit?...did neil-o-shyster hack your account?
Nope, it's me. Fuck Olshey! Am I welcome in your club?

It's not because they didn't go my route it's because there is NO direction at all!

Get out of the tax? Nope

Make the team better this year? Nope

Make the team better long term? Nope

So 3 goals he could have pursued yesterday and he failed to achieve a single one. To top it all off he stood up there and contradicted himself.

Mad? Nah. Bummed? Sure, but I can also understand why they will stick with Simons through the failure. I’ve always advocated for letting young guys play through it, so it’d be hypocritical of me to be mad when they actually do. And besides PG, I don’t really see any other urgent needs, assuming Nurk returns relatively soon.

Your rage has consumed you into irrational thinking. We got better by making a trade for Ariza. Obviously the goal was to reduce the tax burden not necessarily get out of the tax completely and do you know if they tried to do other deals to get out of the tax completely? Make the team better long term? Is the long term here already? I always though it was a process and next off season we might re-sign Whiteside, have around 10 mil to sign another player as well as some of the exceptions and several contracts that can be moved if a good deal comes along. Instead all you do is fuck this and fuck that. Not a real mature way to act.
