The Raiders' effort was the poorest I've seen by ANY teams in a long time but I put most of the blame squarely on coaching...and I think it's time to admit that Gruden is not the football genius that he's made out to be.
He not only failed to prepare his team properly vs a bad Atlanta team who were without their top RB and their top WR, but he also added to poor preparation by compounding it with poor decisions.
1. On the road and on their very first drive Gruden decides to go for it on 4th down on his own 45 yard line, mistake #1...and then he compounded his first mistake by trying to run a sweep on 4th and a half yard to go...a SWEEP?...seriously? The Raiders have a FB and one of the best RBs in the game but instead of running the ball up the middle to gain a 1/2 yard he decides instead to run a fucking SWEEP? ..WTF kind of crack head play calling is that?...turning the ball over on downs to the Falcons on the first drive of the game set the tone for the whole game.
2. Down by 13 points in the 2nd half, Gruden opts to kick a FG which did them no good, instead of going for it on 4th down from inside the 5 yard line.
3. Down by 20 in the 2nd half Gruden decides on FIRST down to run the ball up the middle instead of throwing the ball downfield on 2 successive series. You're down by 20 points and your start off with feeble running plays?...again, more crackhead decisions.
...I'll call it now, the Raiders will not make the PS.
