I think Oden is the most overrated player by this fan base in the history of pro sports. He's a solid player, but he can't stay healthy, and he can't stay out of foul trouble.

Funnily enough, if Batum is traded as the centerpiece for CP3 it actually all started by the Hornets being cheap back in the 08 draft. They sold us their late 1st rounder which ended up being Darrell Arthur, whom we turned around and packaged with Joey Dorsey on draft night, and ended up with Batum. Good shit.

The whole CP3 trade was arranged and agreed upon back in 08. We took Batum for NO, trained him for a couple years. Why do you think he started as a rookie, even though Nate hates rooks? We agreed to play him in order to get him ready for his role in NO.

I think while it's a fair comment, you're taking it out of context. Right now is John Wall overrated? What has he proved? Yet folks would say he's the top 5 PG in the league. Was LeBron overrated after 82 games of putting up numbers? Was Rose overrated after 82 games? Certainly. Ironically Tyreke, Rose, Durant, Roy, CP3, LeBron, etc. none of them had a better PER for their first 82 games than Oden had. Sure, did he have a couple of injuries, yes. But were they soft tissue injuries that would cause a person to worry for year to come? No. We'll likely see 68+ games out of Oden from here on out for 4 out of every 5 years and most analyst know that. He won't have to deal with a perimeter defense of Blake, Roy and Rudy while he's out there like he did for Batum's injury last year and got into foul trouble. Imagine an Oden not having to worry about fouls and playing 30+ minutes at that 23 PER, tell me that's not something tangible that folks can expect, just like folks expected in LeBron, Rose, CP3 and the rest after their stellar first 82 games played. That's where the hype comes from, numbers on the floor, dominance you could see when watching the game, and years of dominating the opponents prior to that injury.

So overrated for a guy that's been injured and had foul trouble? Sure, but those are reoccuring things, they are fixable things that are likely to be fixed sooner rather than later and that's why people laugh at people defending Batum so much when they don't even see the greatness sitting right in front of their faces with Oden.
