As I remember the story in the local media, he made public that she had cancer at the preseason media day, not that she was diagnosed then, and that's why he stayed close to home all summer long.

Very nice article. I hope Aldridge's mother recovers from her cancer and lives many more years.

I just wish it hadn't taken a family tragedy to get Aldridge to play up to his potential.

What's funny about it? I liked the article, I was touched by the story, and I sincerely hope that Aldridge's mother beats her cancer.

I also think it's a shame that Aldridge has been playing like Rasheed Wallace for the last four years instead of developing his inside game. I'm glad it finally happened, and we're all seeing the great results.

Sorry you think this is "garbage." I happen to think it's the truth.

My dad was diagnosed with lung cancer last March. I can attest that it really messes your life up. I was definitely in a funk for four or five months after that. Now my dad is cancer free after chemo and radiation, and I am so grateful, but I can empathize with LMA.
