Last I heard Oden was getting tips from his uncle.

What do you want to add to your game?

I was talking about that yesterday with my uncle. He was giving me some little pointers. You know, Greg, If you can get that little nice jumpshot close to the rim. Not as far as LaMarcus's but get a nice touch jumpshot around the rim. That's something that would definitely help your game. That's something I want -- a nice touch jumpshot around the basket.

:dunno:

There are plenty of published reports of them working with paid Blazer employees last offseason... which is probably why no one mentions it.

STOMP

 So, what are you saying? That teams that bring in former players as special tutors are wasting their time/money?

Greg's uncle sounds pretty smart. A little ten to twelve foot jump shot (maybe from the baseline or the elbows) would allow him the opportunity to receive kickouts from Brandon or Miller off of their penetration.

That baseline shot (the old Hakeen move) would be a killer shot to add to his arsenal. Heck, we saw him hit a couple of foul line elbow jumpers early in the season. He can do it.

I don't think the lesson here is that it's the uncle. I think the point is that Oden gets so little coaching that his uncle's tip sticks in his memory as the only coaching tip he's heard in months.

Not getting any coaching would explain 2 things: 1) why Oden develops so slowly even when healthy, and 2) how the Blazers survive without a big man coach.
