RT @w_maxey: RT @christomasson: NBA says hasn't set exact timetable when Stern will name Yao replacement. Love vs. Aldridge for last spot.

Best record and you get guys in with fairly mediocre stats? That's stupid. I'm all for guys looking at record. And if you are debating two deserving people, you default to better record perhaps. Like when people said Montae should get in over Roy. But, sorry, I know stats aren't everything, but 14 and 9 isn't an all star to me. Especially playing a bit over half a game, and covering guys like Joel for 3/4ths of a game. I respect Duncan and the Spurs as a whole. It's bullshit to me he gets in. He is not at all having an all star year.

It reminds me of the 1999-2000 season, when the Blazers were 38-11 at the All-Star break, and only Rasheed Wallace made the AS team. Rasheed was the best player on that team, and the Blazers not having an AS would have been a shame, just as the Spurs not getting an AS would be this year. Since Ginobli was already in, I have to assume that Duncan was a legacy vote based on record. If that is the case, then Pippen should have been an AS in 99-00, because it was a two team Western Conference race between the Blazers and the Lakers.

glad we got to the bottom of that.

keystone cops

I can see that, but, sometimes, the best team maybe doesn't have a deserving all star. And that's ok. The sum being greater than the parts and all that. Garnett doesn't deserve to be there. That's a joke also. But, it's the All Star Game. I don't cafre all that much, would have liked to see LA make it, but am happy he will get some rest.

Tough choice for Stern. Nash, Love, Z-Bo, Aldridge, West, Parker all in play. I'd go Love or Nash. He may go for Ws with West or Park

LaMarcus must not have enough hotel space near the Rose Garden.

KG definitely deserves to be there. His stats are good enough (21.5 PER) and he has the best defensive rating in the whole league.

15 and 9 are AS numbers? And yay for his DRTG. Boozer is a very mediocre defender, and he sports a 97 DRTG.

points and rebounds are stats that people who have no clue what they are talking about look at to determine how good a player is.

Top 20 in the NBA in PER, with excellent defense and the best record in the East = NBA All-Star

nba is saying its between love and aldridge for final spot.

according to hollinger via twitter.

unreal.....

even when the blazers dont play theres depressing outcomes

I think Boozer would have made it in over Garnett had he played in more than 30 games.

But didn't Woj say Nash got the last spot as Yao's replacement?

that was early....

this is the latest

hell wo the fuck knows

From Quick:

Initial reaction of LaMarcus Aldridge upon hearing he was not an All-Star: "I told you so. Didn't I say that from the start?''

Question for you guys: Is LA's comment just being realistic, or is it more along the lines of having a defeatist mentality?

I'd like to think Stern will ask Pop who he wants and Pop will say Aldridge.

In recent years LMA got much better at the 2nd half of the year. I suspect he is going to be just fine and going to have plenty of big-scoring games to finish the year. I suspect it is also a care of him knowing his start of the year was not as good as some (like Griffin). I personally think he is being realistic

Now wojo said Nash will get yaos spot.

Hollinger says scouts don't respect loves game nor do coaches.

This season keeps getting worse. Will the icing onnthe cake be losing to cavs making national headlines?

Sure, why not.

You really think little Napoleon gives a damn what Pops thinks? Stern is all about image and marketing and right now K-Love is media darling, and Nash is a former MVP and has a game tailor made for the all-star game. I'll be floored if Stern picks LMA.

The NBA wants to have as much Hollywood royalty at the game, no matter how long ago they were important (Dianne Cannon, Jack Nicholson, the majority of "famous" Laker fans), as possible. And having Brian Wilson's cousins nephew on the team gives them one more shot at highlighting just how freaking awesome Los Angeles is, and how the rest of us suck for not living there.

10 bucks says if Love makes it, they'll make a dated "Good Vibrations" remark, or something similarly stupid.
