For the first time in a long, long time, I walked into a Trail Blazers practice and saw this: Sweat soaked through the players' t-shirts. Greg Oden with his hands on his knees. Brandon Roy with a towel around his neck, wiping off sweat.

After using offdays as a chance to rest his players for the greater past of the last two months, Trail Blazers coach Nate McMillan cracked the whip on Sunday, one day after Houston administered a 108-81 rout in Game 1 of the first-round playoff series.

"We want to get that out of our system,'' McMillan saiud. "It was bad. It felt bad. It looked bad. And it was bad.''
As a result, McMillan said he decided against showing the team any game film from Saturday's game in order to avoid "a double whammy".

Instead, it was back to basics.

"We went to work man, and we needed it,'' center Joel Przybilla said. "He said tomorrow we will look at film, but today we worked. We haven't had a hard practice in over a month, but it was good for us, especially after last night.''

Instead of worrying about adjustments to make against the Rockets, the Blazers instead worked on their most basic of plays and defensive sets. While the Blazers fully acknowledged the excellence with which Houston played Saturday, they felt they strayed from their strengths.

"Today we needed to get in the gym and work,'' McMillan said. "It wasn't about film as opposed to getting out and getting in a good, hard practice. I just felt like we needed to work.''.......................

Did Blake go Chuck Norris on a chair?

Good for Nate! He went "DEVO" on 'em............. Crack That Whip!

Well we've seen that he clearly has trouble guarding one ...

lol nice.. although there was a couple one on one moments where blake played him nice.. but too much gambling off of him. And losing him off the ball.

This is the last thing any Rockets fans want to hear. Avoiding tape and getting in a good practice is the smartest thing to do today. I want to hear how they are gonna change, watch tape and adjust, but they are sticking to whats worked for them all season. If they come out and set the tone early at home on Tuesday, this series could go seven games. Anything can happen in a game 7.

That's encouraging to hear. I don't think anyone -- players, coaches or fans -- wants to experience that night ever again. It was probably a good humbling experience after all the hoopla over the previous few days about making the playoffs and people actually talking about facing LA in the second round. We made Houston look like NBA champions in Game 1.
