:ghoti: Check for the Blazers

I can only hope we win 2 more games on this trip (preferably includes the Grizz.

Looks like the 8th spot might be safe, but to be honest i would love the 7th seed because i think we can hang with anyone except the Lakers

:chestbump:

Everyone but the Lakers and Jazz...

If Dallas can take over Utah in the #3 slot, I would be happy if we finish in the #6 slot because we would take on Dallas and we did better in that series.
We will lose against the Lakers, Denver or Utah if they are in the top 3.

I feel the exact opposite. The Lakers are the team that I am most confident we can beat. I thought we could've taken them down last year too and that's why I especially upset to not get past Houston.

.

Um.. we played well against the old Dallas. The new and improved Dallas will be much more difficult for us to beat.

Because they now start 4 All Stars and one of the best defensive centers in the NBA.

So if they added Jamaal Magloire, they'd be unstoppable with 5 All Stars?

Looking at the actual players, they're not all that different. Butler hasn't been better than Howard, either this year or for their careers. Haywood is a perfectly fine player, but he's basically a wash with Dampier (who's injured, so getting Haywood was a good move for Dallas, but doesn't explain why they'll be any tougher than the edition Portland has played with Dampier healthy).

A wash?? Haywood is a MAJOR upgrade.

This year's numbers with the Mavericks:

Erick Dampier 7 ppg, 8.5 rpg, 1.5 bpg

Brendan Haywood 11.2 ppg, 10.7 rpg, 2.8 bpg

A sample size of, what, 4 games? Stats don't work that way.

Haywood's talent changes when he puts on a Mavericks uniform?

If you believe that, I can see why you feel Haywood has upgraded them. I prefer to look at career numbers (or, for players who's value is changing due to age, the last few seasons) for a proper representation of their ability.

Dampier: 14.5 PER, 104 DRtg
Haywood: 15.6 PER, 106 DRtg

So Haywood is slightly more productive, career-wise, and Dampier may allow slightly fewer points per 100 possessions. And their general reputations, in my perception, match the numbers: both are serviceable centers of journeyman caliber.

Seems like a wash to me.

Marion is so far removed from his AS level playing days. He's clearly lost a step and has a 14.1 PER this year.

I'd be excited about a Dallas matchup as I think PDX matches up really well
