No lockout!

I'm not surprised. There weren't issues both sides were so far apart on that a labor peace couldn't be reached. Both NBA and MLB seems to have figured out a lockout doesn't help anybody. As for the NFL..... Well- :jerry:

Cant wait to see the terms. Really want an amnesty clause and cut Meyers for good

Didn't sound like there was enough support on the owners side for the amnesty clause to make it to this new contract. I'm sure Paul Allen was pushing hard for it.

I don't think we have any assets we'd be better off amnestying than keeping or trading so it's all good

I like that you can carry 17 players on a roster...they make different salaries when they are playing D league from when they are called up....this is a great step!

What is the over 38 rule?

The NBA’s 36-and-over rule that prohibits players from signing a five-year maximum contract if their 36th birthday falls during the life of the deal has changed to a 38-and-under rule, league sources said. Several members of the union’s executive committee, including president Chris Paul, vice president LeBron James and executive committee member Carmelo Anthony could benefit financially from the rule. Under this change, Paul, a perennial All-Star, is eligible for a five-year, $207 million deal to stay with Los Angeles this summer.

The under 38 is going to make things real interesting. With all of the crazy money being thrown around, this gives the owners another tool to hang themselves with.

Who is going to be smart enough to get value for a vet before they become an anchor that sinks their franchise?

Maximum roster size, though, will rise from 15 to 17 players, with the extra slots earmarked for players on "two-way contracts," as seen in the NHL. Those contracts stipulate that a player's salary is based on NBA minimums when the player is "up" and an estimated $75,000 when the player is on assignment in the NBA Development League.

Will be curious if this results in anything. We have not had much luck with the D league but a few teams like Miami and Houston have.

I've seem this happen in baseball all the time. Luckily enough they raised the luxury tax so high that only the Dodgers seem to want to play dangerous. But it'll be cool to see which franchise
signs the NBA equivalent of the Jacob Ellsbury deal. With the way the hard cap in the NBA is, some team will literally be stuck paying a guy NOT to play.

Of the changes I've read in this thread, I like...not a one. Now, inescapable mistake contracts will be even longer.

Are there any changes that help the fans?

so CP3, Bron, and Melo are all on the committee and made sure there was a new rule/altered rule to stuff their already bulging pockets even fuller. OF FUCKING COURSE. Just more reasons for me not to like any of those dudes.

$207 mil for CP.

WOW

If fucking baseball players can get $200M contracts, basketball players better damn sure be able to get em.

No doubt some of these guys should be able to pull down that much money. However, I think they should be paid that type of money while in their prime instead of twilight.

Baseball players also can get 10 year deals. You can't compare the two.

Well you can, but you'd be moronic to do so.
