No more "nice JJ"

trade him for Jimmer right now. ;)

Strange tweet considering it comes after a game where he played 34 strong minutes. Not sure where he is going with this.

maybe he's mad we haven't created a jj hickson appreciation thread yet.

When your team starts winning, then you can start talking. Until then, just shut up.

These tweets remind me of Jamal Crawford's emo tweets last year.

Nothing like these veiled, indirect tweets.

Fans probably blasted him on twitter. Its happened a few times to him this year.

Why would people be blasting JJ? His performance on the court has been solid. He seems like a good dude, too.

maybe he's getting benched to get moer scoring in the 2nd unit.

JJ is not the reason we are losing. Curious to hear what is pissing him off but have no problem with any Blazer knocking a Hawk on their ass tonight.

We do? Why?

I don't need one. And if I did, JJ certainly wouldn't be it.

the question was about why fans would be harping on him. Those fans need a scapegoat.

Yes, I got that.

What you're not getting/answering, is the "Why JJ?" part? That makes no sense to me. Just throwing the scapegoat theory out there makes little sense to me. So I'm wondering why JJ would be the "scapegoat".

The answer at that point should be along the lines of, "Well, those fans are just pretty fucking retarded." Or perhaps, "Those fans are clueless."

Either way, not sure why people need a scapegoat, as you say. And even more concerning is that if some fans need a scapegoat, as I've asked, "Why JJ?"

The scapegoat this year is the bench. Last year was JC and tons of fun Felton. Miles, Zbo, and Wallace were it before. Seems like there is always a single player that fans harp on

Something or someone has apparently ticked off Portland Trail Blazers forward J.J. Hickson and it wasn't me.

If you were up around 8 a.m., and are following @Hickson21, you might have seen a couple of interesting tweets from him.

The first one said, @Hickson21 If you don't like how I'm about to start operating, then f$@ck ya. Straight up. I'm on one...”

Well, okay. That came out of nowhere.

Then there was another one shortly after saying, @Hickson21I see that being the nice JJ gets me no where...”

So, 10.2 points per game and 10.7 rebounds a game is the nice J.J.? Look out league.

After today's shootaround, I approached Hickson to find out what this was all about. “I'm just going to be me,” Hickson told CSNNW.com. “I'm going to start being more vocal with my teammates and my opponents. I'm just going to start talking. I just made up my mind that some things need to change and we need to stop this losing streak and I decided to tweet it out.”

So, the tweets were basketball related?

“Yeah, it's not like I'm not happy or anything like that, it's just I feel like I'm not being who I am and that's talking to my teammates and getting at the other teams, too.”

As Hickson was answering my question, head coach Terry Stotts walked by and said to Hickson, “Hey, you know Chris wants you to come off the bench.” Then I had to explain my stance to Hickson.

“It's whatever coach wants to do and however I can help the team,” Hickson said. “I know I'm the trash player. My points come off of rebounds and every team needs a player like that. Obviously every player wants to have their name in the starting lineup and competing, but it's whatever the coach wants to do.”

Hickson says he hasn't heard his name being associated with coming off of the bench until coach Stotts brought it up during this interview. And in regards to those tweets, I have no clue.

This kinda makes me think it was an internal thing within him.

Some dudes kinda boil over at times, and let it out like Tony the Tiger. Maybe it's just part of the internal hunger and he's ready to let frustration go and he's ready to just bust some ass. Firing himself up. He probably doesn't like how his free agency played out. He probably wishes he was more of "the man".

That was my kinda initial thought to this, and part of why I didn't understand that people were saying fans were going after him and he's the new scapegoat. While his tweets don't make a lot of sense on the surface, JJ being the fan's scapegoat for this team makes even less sense.

Love me some JJ!
Funny that Stotts had some fun and called Haynes out in front of JJ.

Thought that was funny, too.

Then, I thought more about it.... And I found it funnier that the coach was reading Haynes' articles. Rookie coach.

I think I know when this happened.

During the SA game, Lillard waived off Hickson in the post to post up Aldridge instead. Hickson looked pissed and he and Lillard had words coming back down the floor.

With the bricks our second unit is putting up, JJ might score 20+ a game moving to the bench.

Yep. Matthews and Hickson to the bench, Claver and Leonard starting, Batum to SG. Make it happen, Stotts! What could go wrong?

actually, that might not be a horribly bad idea.

If for no other reason than the bench won't be outscored 900 to 3

Probably because Hickson knew Aldridge was just going to shoot a fade away jumper
