My boss has Insider on ESPN. He tells me that Bucks have received calls for Sessions, but no offers yet.

You would think that he would have some offers on the table by now, right? Or maybe he is just not as good as we think?

He's the best free agent point guard. I would really hope that Pritchard has inquired about him. He should be the #1 free agent on our list.

They are probably waiting to match.

If no one makes an offer for Sessions, he'll have to play for the QO - Cheap money.

Though others can "agree in principle", my thinking is restricted free agents can't do anything, because you can't agree in principle on an offer sheet. It has to actually be signed, and then given to their current team to get a week to match.

a lot of teams dont want to tie up their money for a week with a RFA at least not in the first week of Free Agency.

Sessions and Portland aren't a good match. He is a PG with driving and dishing abilities. That is NOT what we need here.

But he does draw fouls and get to the line. It would be extremely useful to have more then one player capable of doing that.

I don't think Sessions is the perfect solution, but he is a damn sight better the Blake.

Why is that?

I think he is being sarcastic. Sessions would be a terrific fit with the Blazers. Everyone wants to bitch and complain about his lack of 3 point shooting, there are other parts to the game of basketball besides shooting the three. He can attack the rim wonderfully and can get to the free throw line at a excellent rate. Not to mention he's an excellent passer and good finisher around the rim. While I really wanted Hedo on the Blazers, I wanted Ramon even more.

No he is not. Steve Blake can shoot a jump shot, and is a great guy. All Ramon Sessions would bring to this team is a PG who can defend, drive and create for others. He can't shoot, so he's garbage. I don't care one bit that the final nba teams this year all shot more FT's than us, that is not important. We need more 3 PT shooting, and less FT's and getting opponents into foul trouble.

no, if no one makes an offer for sessions, eventually the bucks will make him an offer. they'll want to lock sessions up rather than let him be an unrestricted free agent after next season.

other teams probably haven't really made any serious offers because the bucks have made it fairly clear with their actions that they are going to match and there really aren't many teams out there with much money to offer him.

I agree. Just defense, slashing and distributing? What a, um, three-dimensional player?

I'd hate to have a point guard who can actually stay in front of opposing point guards and who can drive and dish to Oden. Complete non-fit.

It's complete bull shit to add someone like that

My Sarcasmdar wasn't working as well as I hoped.

I agree that this is the reason.

I was going to find that youtube clip of the Comic Book Guy's sarcasm blowing up the professor's sarcasm detector during the Mensa meeting as a response to MM's post, but it's too much work and video streaming is a HUGE no-no at my work.

Have you ever played poker against an opponent who goes out of his way to make it appear that he has a strong hand? He tries to be quick, confident and as intimidating as possible. You decide to fold your hand figuring he has to have something.

But it was all an act, trying to look tough to get everyone else to fold, he only had rags. Strong means weak, weak means strong.

That's how the Bucks are operating. They want to appear that they are in a strong financial position to all outside parties, renouncing Villanueva, dumping Jefferson. "Don't even think of messing with us our only goal is matching Sessions punks!"

But they are actually in a weak position, with one of the lower revenue teams in a small market with a poor owner. They can't afford to pay an upside guy like Sessions major dollars when he isn't a proven player. They know it will be bad in the long-term to pay a guy the 2nd or 3rd most money on the team when he would only be the 5th or 6th best player of a playoff team. They don't have the luxury of Paul Allen. They're just hoping other teams guess wrong and nobody offers Sessions above the MLE over the life of the contract, because that is the only way they can afford to keep him.
