Noah over Oden?

I think Greg could EASILY average 3-4 blocks per game when he figures out how to let the ball come to him and control his fouls.

Well with how he almost blocked a running "tear drop" from the free-throw line, It's not like he doesn't have the skill to block everything.

I still want to see both Oden and Pryzbilla on the court a couple minutes a game. I think it would fun to watch people scared as all hell to take a shot inside 10ft from the basket.

If Joel could develop a 10 foot jumper, I would be less opposed to it.

It's better than Joel and Juwan, and we treaded that ugly lineup out there for 10+ minutes against the Warriors.

I guess I don't understand... if someone has BEEN dominant, how can they not be considered dominant? At what point do they become fully dominant, and not just partially dominant, or remotely dominant? Maybe Greg is just 'nant? He has to work to add the "domi" :)

Consistency is a virtue. Next game, he may score 4-6 pts.

Right now, he is still a tease.

I agree. One game shouldn't change anyone's mind. If you liked Oden before, you should still like him now, and vice versa. Things are rarely as bad, or as good, as this board likes to think they are. I have total confidence in Oden becoming a dominant center but I don't suddenly think it'll be a smooth ride... although that would be nice.

Oden actually has this shot but doesn't use it much. Would you be opposed to Oden facing dudes up from 12 feet while Joel hangs around the rim?

I wouldn't. Oden can put the ball on the floor and hit the 10 foot jumper. Why not bust it out every now and again.

I'll take Oden.

Noah's a good player, though.

Still doesn't look great... but looking better every day. Think about how he looked last year.

He looked good at times last year too. He went for 17/13 and 11/10 last year against the Bulls. :dunno:

That said, he has his explosiveness back. I'm guessing we won't be seeing him rimcheck himself this year on multiple occasions.

Yeah, as often happens in these forums, we get more wrapped up in terminology than actual substance. I think we both have similar expectations. When I hear "aspiring to average," I think of Steve Blake or Joakim Noah. I don't put it in the context of #1 pick/physical dominance/etc.

Compared to #1 draft pick physical specimen centers, I'd say Oden is well in the "aspiring to average" category.

It looked like to me the context of aspiring to average is offense wise and I'd say he is already average on offense and well above on D even if he did mean that or his over all game.

I kind of doubt he needed Sam Smith to motivate him, what with all the OSU-Florida history, I just think this is the player he's slowly maturing into.

Conversely, I really think Noah is still a pretty damn good center, despite the way he played against Oden last night. I think getting bodied up all week by guys like Bynum, Gasol, Nene, etc. and then Pryzbilla and Oden last night has worn him down ... and he alluded to this in his post game comments last night (it probably doesn't help that he was the only front-court player worth a damn on the Bulls roster -- Taj Gibson is ... "raw").

Not to diminish what he does in the hustle department, but the real problem I see for Joachim is that I just don't think he is a guy who can command double teams or score from the block, and I'm not sure he's capable of single covering the truly overpowering physical guys in the league who have both height and bulk advantages. He's still a steal considering his draft position.

I loved the pick and saw him as a guy who could contribute immediately. I never figured him as a starter, unless at PF and then not really stater's minutes.

I haven't changed my opinion of him, and that he's starting says a lot about why you guys blew us out. Our players aren't very good, except for a couple of guys who are maybe top 15 at their position.

A funny tweet about Oden:

@jeskeets Greg Oden is developing an offensive game. This is the moment in Jurassic Park when they realize the raptors are breeding

I missed that and I follow skeets on twitter. That is classic.

noah is a better player... now but i wonder if oden will ever have a 21 rebound game. thats impressive

I guess not yet .... but almost. :) Too bad it was in a loss. :( 13 points, 20 rebounds, 4 blks

Not at all meaning to gloat here, but bump.

Anyone change their opinion?

I'd trade Noah for Oden straight up and tank (even more) the rest of the season. Noah's at his upside, basically, while Oden is still young and has huge upside.

Noah won't push us over the edge for a ring. Oden will. I'll be patient and gamble on it. I don't think Noah on this Blazers team does much in the long term. He'll contribute, get numbers but Oden is a game changer that can get a team into championship contention if healthy...this is why we drafted him.

LOL, I'm sure you would. We know it's about more than this season.

I'm sure you'd also trade Ty Thomas for LaMarcus Aldridge.:devilwink:

Actually, I WOULD trade for Aldridge, but I don't think the Bulls would. They'd rather let Thomas walk for nothing and gain cap space to use on a FA - a FA they'd hope would be better than Aldridge (a TOP TIER one).

I thought you guys might enjoy this.

Noah is outplaying Bynum and the Lakers are only up 3 in Q3 at Chicago.

Noah is 4-11, 11 boards, 2 assists, 6 blocked shots, 10 points
Bynum is 4-8, 1 rebound, 1 assist, 0 blocked shots, 8 points

:sigh:

Noah may not be "better" than Oden, but he is certainly more valuable.

I don't think that he is. They Bulls lose with Noah. If they had Oden, they'd win when he was healthy and lose when he was hurt.

Ed O.

So, if you could clone the Blazer roster, everything being identical except that one version has Noah for 82 games, and the other has Oden for 20 games, which one wins more games?
