I see some of Zach Randolph in his game...

But he obviously has a lot work to do before he makes us forget about LA. Eventually he could get there.

Dunno about ever getting to LMA level but he's gonna b good/fun to watch & a fan favorite!:blazerwookie:

Based on the comments about LMA over the years, I would think that the consensus is we don't even want him to be. LMA was basically our #1 option on offensive and we would have preferred that he was our #3 option.
So as long as we remember that and keep our expectations in check, Vonleh should be a fan favorite.

As long as he hustles, rebounds, and plays D, his offense should pretty much be icing. Eventually being a 4th option on offense after our pg and wings..... would be ideal.

I had to skip 7 pages of posts, but did anyone catch that Vonleh covered the perimeter D and Smart couldn't get around him before he got injured? Vonleh is gonna be the shit!

I think he kind of resembles a young Hakeem Olajuwon! In looks that is.

I think he looks like Ralph Sampson's head on Otis Thorpe's Trunk with Charles Oakley's legs. A guy could do worse.

Thing is, I can see these two as the front court of the future, interchangeable at the 4-5 depending on matchups.

Davis and Plumlee are fine players, but neither are as dynamic as Meyers or Vonleh. If the end goal is to have both Legend and Vonster as our starting frontcourt (and it should be IMO), I'd rather they get started now, even if there will be more bumps in the short term.
then coupled with a Brandon Ingram and Jayson Tatum could be a contending team in a few years

Hopefully Vonleh isnt just a better Dante Cunningham.. Hes nice but I dont see much a difference between those two than say he resembles a Chris Bosh who a lot of ppl say

how in any way is Vonleh a version of Donte Cunningham???

Yeah, I don't get the comparison either. Donte was an undersized hustle guy. Vonleh is taller, longer, and much bigger--and can shoot much better.

Naw...

Futuristically he's a solid 15-19 and 10 guy, IMO.
Has Daunte averaged anything above 5 in his career?

My comparisons
Plumlee = Bill Laimbeer
Leonard = James Edwards
Vonleh = Dennis Rodman
CJ = Joe Dumars
Dame = Isiah Thomas

We win the 1990 championship. Congrats to Neil and all involved

Vonleh reminds me a little of Lloyd Neal, but most of you are probably too young to remember him.

Loved that Pistons team but Meyers is always going to be Tom Chambers to me

Neal was money with his jumper around the free throw line.

God bless us "old" guys and our institutional memories. The NBA started long before Michael Jordan popped outta his mama, even though so many fans today don't get that. Great comparisons! We can only hope Vonleh can bang like Lloyd and that Legend can shoot (and be an on court asshole) like Chambers.

Dante Cunningham was just the opposite. Too thin at 6-8 to be a hustle player, but a thinking cerebral PF with an excellent smooth 15-footer.

Who's our John Salley and Microwave and Larry Johnson (formerly Adrian Dantley (formerly Kelly Tripucka))?

Chambers often dribbled to the basket through traffic. Leonard will never do that. Right from the start of his career, Chambers had a complete game inside and out, while Leonard is a gimmick so far, just there to trick the defender.

Did you see that practice where Leonard went from top of the three and dunked on 3 players? He can do it, but I agree probably not in real games.

I thought all basketball players were there trying to trick the defender? You gotta admit, it's a damned good gimmick!
