Noah Vonleh - thoughts

He has a 9 ft vertical reach, a 7'4" wingspan, 6 toes on his left foot and a birthmark on his right butt-cheek.

More to the point - is there ANY evidence he can actually play Bball at the NBA level?

If you're long and athletic, and not a complete idiot mentally, you're an asset in today's NBA. He's already got the first part checked. The latter is still up in the air but the guy is only 20 years old. The Blazers are taking the chance he pans out.

when he finally got some minutes he has some pretty decent games at the end of the season, before that he got very, very little time

I have a feeling he's going to be an asset to move up in the draft. If LAs returning then we have him and Meyers at PF going forward, and Vonleh isn't a natural center.

maybe he goes to Indy (where he played in college) in a Hibbert trade if Hibbert opts in, or if he opts out and we do a sign and trade with the Pacers

Could definitly see that happening now that David West opted out. They also need a starting SG. Maybe we flip Henderson, Vonleh, and 23 for Hibbert and 11.

But Hibbert would have to publicly announce that he's not opting out, right?

He'd have to opt in. Maybe Indy tells them they have a deal sending him to Portland if he opts in
Going to a team he wanted to go to with an owner that will pay him when cap rises. Playing with Aldridge will make average centers look like beasts. Imagine how he will help Hibbert?!

ever hear about buy low and sell high? If we could get him for 40 mil for 4 yrs I'd do that in a heartbeat, I'd bet getting out of Indy would refresh him big time

The "buy low" would be getting him from Indy for very little value. If he did decide to opt in for his last year, you can believe that dude will want a huge payday next summer.

I don't understand. ..
The incentive to opt in would only mean he knows he will be traded to a team he desires. Opting out would mean that he knows Indy won't work with him.

It would be better for him to wait an extra year and make more. The trade will allow him to get his bird rights traded with him

If he shows he earned it, then it will be a steal.

gotcha

We have cap space. We could trade a small piece for a big contract like Hibbert. Not counting on it, but just sayin'. If Hibbert were to say trade me to PDX or I opt out, Noah looks like a decent piece for Indy. Saves them some cap room, too.

I saw people on Twitter calling him baby Bosh, so assuming we keep him, that's kind of exciting.

I would do Henderson/Vonleh/#23 for Hibbert and then use the remaining cap space to go after someone like Danny Green.

Wrong direction. You want more 3pt, small ball, stretch 4. Not a mostly unskilled guy clogging the lane.

Ugh...hate to say this, haven't seen him play much, but he looks like a poor man's Thomas Robinson to me. I'd rather have T-Rob back.

I know he's compared himself to LA with the way he play's. I also know that the Blazers were rumored to being interested in him last year at this very time. If that is the case, he could be here long term.
