The conditions are as follows:

If Webster is healthy and averaging atleast 7points a game, Travis Outlaw will be traded before this season is over.
But this is assuming no other trades take place first.

The loser must wear a tag of the winner's choosing for the next season.

If he is not traded before the end of the trade deadline in spring, I will lose the bet.

Also, any thoughts on the Webster/TrOut situation?

Simply put, Webster is a very limited player who is on the wrong team. The Blazers need another designated 3-point shooter like they need Darius back.

Trout is pretty darn limited in his own right, but he can hit 3s *and* create his own shot in traffic. He can also fill in at 2 positions. (and no, Webster cannot play SG)

Trout might get traded....but it will be because of his expiring contract being needed as a little extra sugar in a trade.

He would have to average double that in order for Trout to be totally expendable.

I believe Webster will end up the starter, if only because Travis has been so horrid when put in the starting line-up.

have you not been following Batum?

The Blazers went 3-3 in his 6 starts last year... all 6 were at SF. His averages?

17.8 points on 45% from the field
17/18 from the FT line = 94%
6/18 from 3's = 33%
5 RBs
1.8 Assts
0.5 Stls
1.0 Turn overs
0.33 Blocked shots

Unless they get a sweet offer that makes a lot of sense, I doubt Travis is traded this year... they have few needs. Since I expect Martell to average under 15 MPG, 7PPG seems a bit high.

Someone beat me to the bet . . . never mind.

I'm happy to take on as many takers as there are, but I guess you'll be stuck on my signature if I were to lose?:dunno: not that that'll happen though:pimp:

If this were true, then why did he not start for the whole season? The Blazers starters could sure have used another offensive weapon.

Where did you get these stats from? It sure seemed like he played like ass as a starter but there is no doubt I could be wrong.

I got the following lines off of basketball-reference:
Min. fgm fgt fg% 3pm 3pt 3p% ftm fta ft% orb drb trb ast stl blk tov pf pts
31:24 2 9 .222 1 1 1.000 6 6 1.000 0 4 4 1 3 1 0 2 11
36:47 5 12 .417 1 3 .333 0 0 0 4 4 4 0 0 3 2 11
35:28 8 15 .533 2 4 .500 0 0 2 2 4 2 0 0 2 0 18
46:52 7 18 .389 1 4 .250 2 2 1.000 2 5 7 0 0 1 3 1 17
32:39 5 12 .417 1 4 .250 6 6 1.000 1 5 6 4 0 1 1 4 17
32:29 9 14 .643 0 2 .000 3 4 .750 3 2 5 0 0 0 1 3 21

I am assuming the above is unreadable. However, it does support the numbers Stomp calculated. I thought there might be some correlation between games where Travis played well and the team losses, but there was nothing there.

My bad.

Now I am mystified why Outlaw didn't start more often, especially because the team fell behind so often after the first quarter of games.

Batum was the starter by default last year. I honestly don't believe he will be the starter this next season.

Last year teams didn't even guard Batum on offense half the time. If Batum can punish teams for leaving him this next then great. Otherwise, I would rather someone else start.

Well you already have someone taking your bet, so I edited my post thinking you wouldn't go with my bet. But here it is:

Forget the if this and if that, just straight up:

Outlaw gets traded before the season is over
$20
Nik holds the money. :)

20$ is way more than I had envisioned, i'm a tight wad

if you go to individual players game log on yahoo sports they show you which game a player starts. I just tallied up the stats for those 6 games.

I like Travis, but I like Nicolas more and want him to continue starting and hopefully be worthy of having his role expanded.

and Webster was even more so the starter by default prior to Nic's arrival. NB's rookie year was better on both ends of the court then any of Martell's 3.

It's 15.8ppg, 1.7turnovers, and .5bpg according to basketball reference.

It's also worth noting that all of those numbers, except FT% and apg, are worse per minute than his numbers coming off the bench. So in terms of production Outlaw is relatively worse as a starter. Plus the team always being worse in terms of win% when he starts and he's definitely best put to use on the bench.

I'm definitely in the Batum camp in terms of who the starter should be, kid combines the best of both Webs and Outlaw, plus more. Just needs more minutes/freedom to really get comfortable being more than an afterthought in our offense.

my guess/feel... the Blazers starters needed a defensive wing more then another offensive weapon and conversely the 2nd unit needed someone who could go when the clock wound down.

I think it all worked out for the best

good catch... my eyes must have started to blur. But his 45% FG% as a starter is the same (not worse) as his % off the bench. I'm at work right now so I can't take the time to check/recalc things but here's the link to his yahoo game log...
