The patellar tendon isn't thin like the the Achilles it's so thick it's almost unheard of that it would rupture ( it's so thick and strong that sometimes they take the middle third out of it to build someone a new ligament). He could further aggravate what's already going on or theoretically tear it (which would be really bad) but try to find an NBA player who ruptured their patellar tendon... I don't think it's happened.
