I am kind of enjoying the LaMarcus apologists on the Spurs Forum more than the hatred... they think they just need to get more talent around him. It's like deja vu all over again but it's happening to the Spurs now instead of us. It's much easier to enjoy from the outside looking in. :popcorn:

Spurs fans have taken over for Laker fans in that they think they're going to sign anyone they want. Next up: Kevin Durant.

That's certainly a viewpoint that's somewhat supported by the fact that he left. Of course, the countervailing position is that Aldridge was being truthful when the article was written, but that the events that happened after that...Wes getting injured, a quick exit from the playoffs, good sales job by the Spurs, and a chance to be closer to his family simply changed his mind. Guess we'll never know the truth and I'm equally sure that it won't stop being debated on this forum, but as it turn out, I don't much care anymore.

On the Spurs FA front... They have $70mil in Guaranteed contracts for next year. That doesn't include players who can opt out or have an option or can be a FA. Guys that doesn't include are.

Boris Diaw (TO)
Tim Duncan (PO)
Manu Ginobili (PO)
David West (PO)
Boban Marjanovic (RFA)
Jonathan Simmons (TO)

They also have Free Agents Matt Bonner, Rasaul Butler, Andre Miller and Kevin Martin

So they only have $22mil in cap space this summer. Why would Durant take an $8+ mil a year paycut to go play for a team he just beat and already has Leonard and Aldridge at positions he would potentially play? Would Conley take $22mil while Parker is still there?

Dude. IT doesnt matter what anyone thinks. he said what he said and he let us down. Do I care? No. We are better off without him, but don't paint him like some saint that never messed with the fans heads. He is a Diva and got the attention he wanted, but wont get the ring. We can absolutely feel good about it because he said he wanted to do it here and then turned and left. It doesn't matter the reasons. He did it. End of story.

MM doesn't really attack or defend players; his comments are usually value judgments on fandom.

He's not defending LMA; he's calling people who were surprised or hurt by LMA's departure gullible. He's not attacking Meyers Leonard; he's calling people who think Meyers has potential insane.

If you know this about MM, his insights become more clear and valuable. He seems to enjoy a lot of things, but has little patience for magical thinking.

You don't read very well do you? :) I said I don't really care. So I was neither shocked nor let down. However LMA still lied. HE still said he wanted to be things and changed his mind. You defending him and saying he said one thing that is true but another that wasn't and I was trolled is as ridiculous as what he said.

So if he was trolling when he said he wanted to stay, how was he not also trolling when he said he wanted to go?

Cant have it both ways. You either believe a person or you don't. In this instance it doesn't matter what you, me or anyone believed. THE FACTS ARE, he said he wanted to retire here and be the greatest ever. Then a year later he left. Your turn...

THE FACTS are also that he said numerous times to management that he wanted out. So yes, he's a liar.
 
This whole thread - minus the MM back/forth which I skipped over entirely - is just one big LOL! LaMarcus Out Loud! LMAO - LaMarcus My Ass Off!

Another aspect I love about this is that, in the past, LA could return home to lick his wounds when his season ended. But now he has nowhere to run to after losing. His home is now a prison.

Not defensive, just getting the facts straight my friend. :). It can be annoying when you see posts that omit certain facts while trying to point other facts out is all.
