Not Sure I Like This Remark So Much... (1 Viewer)

My biggest deal in all of this is that, on many occasions, when Brandon gets the ball starts his little shake with his head down, the rest of the guys become spectators.

That won't happen with him out. If Andre gets the ball, at least he has the court awareness to see if anyone becomes open....then get it to them.

Or he'll shoot 6 threes (0-6) like he did the last time we played the Suns. Or completely ignore a hot Martell Webster the last time we played the Nuggets.

Or score 52 AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!

Eric, you honestly wish that my boy Steve Blake was out starting PG tomorrow night? I can tell you that Steve Nash sure wishes he was!

Why would Steve Nash wish that we started Blake?? Alvin Gentry called Steve Blake "a Suns killer" and said he is glad that Blake doesn't play for us anymore. Blake dropped 20 & 12 the last time we beat the Suns. When is the last time Andre Miller had a dominant game against the Suns? He was horrible the last time we played them.

**Edit- actually, Miller had 20 points, 7 assts, & 5 rebs in the same game that Blake had 20/12. So I guess the key to our playoff series is Jerryd Bayless. He dropped 29 in our first win over the Suns.

29 other NBA teams would rather face the Blazers with Steve Blake as our PG instead of Andre. A straight up fact! Steve's game down here in our "W" was great, but in a 7 game series, we want Miller!

If the Suns don't want to face Blake (and they flat out don't), doesn't that only leave 28 other teams?

They are full of shit! Who in there right mind thinks that Blake is better then Dre?!? WHO? He may have been a better fit with Brandon's game, but Dre and Roy are one of the best backcourts in the league. You can't say the same about Brandon and Steve. Be realistic for once please.

Blake's 20/12 game, his last as a Blazer, led us to our only win in Phoenix in like, years, right?

And it's not about Blake or Miller. It's about having Blake AND Miller. With Roy out, we could really use Blake right now.

does anyone know of a usage % stat broken up by quarter or "crunch time". Maybe Tince or someone else could correct me on this, but from pure memory I'm thinking that Roy's usage rate is disproportionately heavy in the last 6 minutes (you could very easily say "duh, that's how Nate plans it, to have the star player with the ball" and I wouldn't disagree)...but to bring up usage rate seems a bit off for me (especially when comparing to other teams) b/c afaik, the L*kers don't spend the first 8 minutes "establishing" Pau Gasol. Jordan's Bulls didn't spend the first half "establishing" Ho Grant. Denver doesn't "establish" Nene. HOU did somewhat with Yao. Even the Magic don't work to get Howard open. Roy's usage rate is skewed b/c of the game plan to "establish" LMA early.
I'm generally of the opinion that I don't mind Roy with the ball and making decisions in the 4th. But he's NOT good enough to go 1-on-3 like LBJ or K*be or Wade is for an entire 3 minutes and be successful--especially when we have the tools so that he doesn't HAVE to if the plan isn't set up like that. Is there a number that anyone does think would be too high? If it came up that he's a 40% USG in the 4th? 50%? Hell, 95% if that's what it takes, b/c he's our all-star?

More to the point, would you rather have Blake than Camby? Without that deal, the Blazers might have started their summer vacation already.

I'm not sure if I should rep your for stating something that should be obvious to everyone, even though I realize it isn't.

Repped!

Without Camby or Roy and with Blake, we got our my most dominating victory over the Suns this season. We jumped out to a 17 point lead and never looked back. Also- Roy, back then, said that he believed we could beat any team in a seven game series if we made no trades. In my opinion, if we don't win this series against the Suns, the Camby trade was a waste. Considering that we have Howard (who was very serviceable as a center) and Oden will be coming back next season, we won't need Camby who may sign somewhere else anyway and then we will have lost some of our depth in Blake and Outlaw along the way.

You can't deny that it'd be nice to have Steve Blake backHe's the best backup PG in the league and that is currently one of our weaknesses. Plus, he's a serviceable shooting guard in place of Roy.

No kidding, winning is a longshot, but damn I'm gonna be a little bit depressed if they get 'broomed'

I'm going to Thursday and Saturday's game so no way are we getting swept!!
