This is NOT a thread for 'I knew he was leaving' or LMA was this or that, or how good or not good he was. Simply, how do you feel now?

I know a lot of us were very reactionary when he left, topped by his goodbye letter.

Now that we have had time for things to simmer down, how do YOU feel? We have a decent perspective on what our roster will look like. Although not complete it is clear our direction.

Mad, sad, glad, indifferent, don't care? What is the pulse of rip city in the wake of his decision.

Seemingly, at first it was hurt and anger.

For myself, I like the new direction of the team. I think we pretty much ran our course with him. I don't think LMA (not a knock on him) was the centerpiece to a championship team. It remains to be seen if anyone on the current roster can help recreate those playoff appearances, but I truly feel it was best for all involved to move on and build around Lillard, with his youth and the potential in Vonleh, Meyers, McCollum, amongst others.

I am terrified that we will be stuck in mediocrity if those guys turn put to be alright but nothing special. I don't think we will be bad enough for a tank worthy pick.

Of course it will suck losing as much as we probably will and I think that is why a lot of people were hurt by LMA leaving.

I don't like it

It's going to be awhile before I get past the idea of another rebuild and the timeline for being relevant is prob a good three to four years down the road.

I'm ok with it. I think it's easy to get bent when your team loses a all star player, but in reality we probably weren't going to get much better as a team as it was, and he is not young enough to be central to rebuilding

I'm actually okay now. Not that I like the dude, but the sting is gone. Since he's gone, I've decided not to even worry about him. Pretty excited with this newness we have right now. We may suck, but it's not like the previous sucktastic years

Just want to sweep the Spurs but that's not actually a change for me

I'm going to miss the excitement of playoff basketball. Even if we weren't going to win a championship with Aldridge, with two all stars we were going to continue to make the playoffs in the West year after year. And, keep in mind, many of the new young guys we've picked up we got before Aldridge officially left. I would have preferred to continue to be competitive AND hope a couple of the younger guys turned out special to help push us even deeper in the playoffs.

Now, that's not a possibility. So, I'm pretty bummed about the upcoming season. I'll still watch the games, but my personal enthusiasm has definitely waned. I'm not pissed at Aldridge, never was. To me, it was never personal. I wanted to keep the guy because we would have been a better team with him than we will be without him - for the foreseeable future. Bring on the losing...

What I think is that he is a talented but thoroughly messed up human being.

good riddance, we were likely going nowhere with him, only regret was we didn't move him and get value like Minny did for Love

I don't believe that...maybe with the roster as it was it would have caused us some problems. The idea and infatuation of keeping the same starting five together would have had to go. Simply because whoever said it was correct. They weren't athletic enough (And passionate enough). But you could win with LaMarcus Aldridge.

That's why Pop and SA picked him up. They will show this organization how to make that work.

Agree with this post, I wrote something similar.

IF LMA had re-signed with the Blazers, Batum was going to be traded anyway, his time here was up.

Wes would still be going to Dalles on his huge contract. I feel bad about loosing Wes, but paying him that much with his injury just does not make sense.

ROLO I am not sure if he stays, however, he did fit well playing next to LMA.

With a core of Dame, LMA and possibly ROLO, and with some cap space to make some of the same moves, we would be a much better team than we are now, and would probably still make the playoffs.

You can win with LA. But if he's your #1 or #2, you won't.

This.

Although, I am saving money by switching from Comcast. I enjoy listening to games while taking care of other things around the house, hobbies, etc. When the Blazers are a top team, though, I glue myself to the TV. So, the Blazers are helping my efficiency at home, and helping me save some cash.

I'm pissed. We were right there. The #2 record in the Western Conference. With a healthy Wesley we were capable of beating anybody. Now we are going into major suckage time for the foreseeable future.

I'm not happy he left, but sometimes a fresh start is what is needed. I'm interested to see how Pop uses him.

Well this is how we gonna do this
Fuck losing our starting lineup, Fuck LaMarsha
Fuck the Spurs as a staff, team and as a motherfucking crew
And if you want to be down with the Spurs then fuck you too

I feel better about this young team without LA than I did with him as our #1. This is Paul Allen's team and we now have our undisputed franchise player Dame leading the charge. It'll be challenging for the young players for the next 2 to 3 seasons. Hopefully we'll be talking about a powerhouse team by then!

Man, do most of you guys carry the bipolar around with you all day? Or just when you're posting here on S2?

Some of you guys have turned straight-up bitch since LA left.

Seriously, what? I was mostly agreeing with you?!?!?! All while spelling out my opinion a little more clearly. I know he won't be #1 in SA. I mean, DUH.

LaMarcus will absolutely be the #1 option in San Antonio. You're kidding yourself if you think otherwise.

You said, "But if he's your #1 or #2, you won't.".

In the end, and most certainly at the end of Pops contractual period, that's what he will be. And they will be just as competitive.

I only wish the door had hit him in the ass on his way out.

Yep, his scoring will be down, due to a better supporting cast, a better system that distributes the scoring load among all five players on the court, and fewer minutes, but he will lead SAS in scoring this year, next, the year after, etc.

Neil did a good job rebuilding the Clippers. I'm ok with him doing the same for the Blazers.

No hard feelings towards LMA. He needs to both chase a ring and make big money.

Relax, I'm just as much on your side now as I was a few weeks ago. It's just discussion. But one we obviously disagree on...
