4chan is a site that has a "Random" channel, which is the /b/ channel. It is sort of like the cantina in Star Wars.

It's moderated but so popular that the mods can't keep up. LOTS of great stuff comes from there in terms of memes and random funny stuff, but there's a lot of racist and otherwise horrifically offensive stuff, too.

Maybe the original definition of meme was/is important, but the script kiddies, internet geeks, anon fools and chi-mo's on /b/ and 4chan aren't really using the word meme in its true sense. It's morphed into its own definition suited for the internet. I mean we could argue about that all night long, but I don't really give two shits about it.

My original post, somewhat vague I'll admit, was more pointed towards the Internet use of the word "meme" and how I think its use over the internet is retarded, specially how people coin inside jokes as meme's. (e.g Data's "do want", lol cats, etc).

I think the term in its most popular and current use on the internet is insignificant, and rather stupid. But eh, to each his own on 4-chan and other related sites.
