YeahI don't get why anyone would think differently than this.
Remember PG's injury.
Got hurt Aug 1.
Was seen walking around without a boot in the end of September.
Dunked and shot around in practice late October.
Started practicing regularly in March. Admitted he wasn't yet mentally 100%
Played in his first game in April. Was shaky the last few weeks of the season, recovered fully over the subsequent summer and was back in October close to his old self to start the next season.
That's about 8 months to return. About 14 months to truly recover to full strength.
Nurk got hurt on March 26.
Was walking around without a boot a month later.
We saw him doing leg work last month.
8 months puts him at January. Full recovery even if we're not conservative is about March.
This isn't unexpected. I want him back only when he's 100%. Whiteside is a fine replacement for the season.

We have help.
He doesnt even need to come back until hes 100%.
At any other point would be stupid.
both those breaks actually strengthened his bones after repairs...it's the nature of those injuries. The good thing about them is they happened when he is still really young and his bones will heal more quickly than someone my age with that injurywhat worries me is the fact that Nurkic already has 2 breaks within two years.

Yup, your google search is definitely more relevant than what actual doctors and the team are saying.Um...because we actually research the recovery timeline for this type of injury? He’ll be back on the court in December in my opinion. Even that is conservative.

Yes, unless that doctor has access to Nurk it's simply their best estimate.Have you considered that I may have consulted a doctor on this subject?
We’ve heard what Olshey said. Have we heard from team doctors?
lol...do you think it's possible that Olshey has heard from team doctors? trick question for sure
so then, after he's spoken to team doctors after every time they make an evaluation, he comes out and says February. But apparently, he's lying....?
Why do you have to go from zero to asshole in 60 seconds? I'm just asking a question. Has anyone heard anything other than the snippet that Olshey dropped in that interview? I'm not questioning his timeline, and I certainly would think that he's had plenty of talks with Nurk's and the team's doctors. Hoopsjock mentioned doctors' reports in his post and I'm just asking if anyone has actually heard those.
I think some of you live for confrontation on this board.

I was assuming Olshey was relaying what he's being told. We’ve heard what Olshey said. Have we heard from team doctors?
So why not say he'll be back sometime between October and March then instead of continually insisting he'll be back by December?Even if a doctor does have access to Nurk it’s still essentially a guess. My buddy’s son (who is a doctor) told me it will be a minimum of 6-8 months to a maximum of 1 year.

There is literally no reason to trick teams that way. The schedule isn't even out yet. If he was close to playing in December that information would leak out. There is no way it would surprise teams.Olshey could also be playing the game. Keeping opposing teams in the dark.
Let them thunk feb. when he shows up in the court in December, teams wont be ready.
Purely speculation but olshey does things like this all the time. Info is held very close unless he wants it out.
I don't think anything Neil says is flippant. He's too careful.NO made one flippant comment in a summer league broadcast and its gets plastered everywhere Nurk is out til Feb. There is zero advantage for the team to say he could be back in December. Just means they have to answer questions leading up to and beyond if he doesn’t hit that mark. Throw out a way too conservative estimate and hope for sooner. Not sure PG is a great comparison. There games are night and day. PG plays vertical and cuts. I’ll lean more optimistic and hope for a December return.

It is possible that Olshey is tempering expectations but with Whiteside in the mix I don't know why the Blazers would even consider bringing him back until they are 100% confident in his recovery.
