Nurk Fever…. Dame never really recovered, much like some people never really recovered from COVID.

(Terrible humor and I realize I’m probably going to hell, but at least Sly will be there to welcome me.)

Does he want to be here? Dame is his guy.

I agree with taking on bad salary for picks, but that's why the Grant signing doesn't make sense with this route.

If we can't move him for assets, it's only going to make our pick worse next year and make it harder to make moves that rebuilding teams should focus on.

My thinking on the Grant signing is that it is much harder to find quality wings and front court players. Any time you can get one, you should. Look at the trade market right now. Plenty of quality guards.

I agree that shooting is essential to a player's success but will at to that "right now". IMO, the game is starting to get boring watching teams jack up almost 3 pointers exclusively. Once teams start showing entertainment value doing other things, the rules will change to embrace that. As I have said many times recently, I cannot wait for the start of the Scoot/Sharpe era and think we are about to see something special.

If we're bundling anyone with Dame, let it be Grant. Dame got him his stupid contract, Dame's team better be the one that suffers.

Great joke

I don't think we should get rid of him just for the heck of it and I think his value is better than some perhaps thinks it is. I do think though that he does not want to be heere without Dame so the best thing moving forward is probably packaging him with Dame and see what happens. Shame, as I really like the dude.

Haven’t been this excited for a season in a long time. For the first time, in a long time, I have no idea what this team will look like, or how they will play, or what the GM will do without having to answer to Dame

I agree but I also think Chauncey is a good match to coach this team. He’s never had a chance to coach the team his way. He wants defense he wants ball movement and he has a young team that he can mold. He’s always had a strong vet superstar who excelled as a ball dominant player (nothing against Dame).

I actually enjoyed watching when we we were tanking because you could see his vision. Unfortunately for him we didn’t have much talent when we tanked.

He’s not a great coach at this point

I would be a bit shocked if Nurk was on this team to start the year

I would shocked if Grant is on this team after the deadline

I would be slightly shocked if Ant isn’t moved for a forward

I would be shocked if Chauncey is our coach after this season
Agreed on all counts.

Blazers need to spend 122.4 million just to reach the minimum salary floor. Whether it's Nurkic, Grant or hiring players on the IR, old guy buyouts, the Blazers need to spend a required amount of money to be an NBA team.

they don't have to spend it on a player. There's no rule requiring that. If they are below the floor, then the difference between the payroll and the minimum team salary is distributed to the players on the team

it could be really beneficial to have open cap-space heading into the trade deadline. It would be a way to add assets for next to nothing. And after the trade deadline, that cap-space can be used for bought out players and waived players. Might pick up a real bargain there

and if you still have cap-space, it might be REALLY good leverage during the draft

and of course if you end the season under the minimum, the difference goes to your players as a Christmas bonus in June

if all 4 thing happen opposite of what you expect will you survive a quadruple shock?

or is Quadruple Shock a new beer at McMenamins?

Nurk wants to leave anyways.

Nurk will have to go, agreed there. I don't think -- unless other suitors emerge -- that we should just toss him into a Dame trade, unless it's bringing more value back. He's not likely to fetch a ton, but his salary slot is still valuable on the trade market and there's only so many bigs his size in the league now.

To a contender in need of size, he'll still provide value. That value needs to be mined to at least get something back...
