Hey fams! I hope everyone's off-season is going swimmingly. Mine has been shit, but that's a topic for another time.

I just found a video of Nurk playing in Europe. I scrolled back a couple of pages and didn't see it posted anywhere, so I thought I would post it here:

I don't know how I feel about him going to Europe in the off-season to play. I remember Batum playing for France in the off-season instead of letting his body rest and recover, and as a result he played worn out and tired for Portland.

I doubt it's anything to be concerned about, but I thought it was worth noting.

Something else as well: I noticed in the clip that the refs call fouls differently over there than they do here. That very well may explain his soft approach when driving to the rim, instead of using his size and strength like he should. What do you think?

A final note: I will be starting "The Other Side, Vol. II" thread the day before our first preseason match up, so keep an eye out for that.

Enjoy the clip, and GO BLAZERS!

With Batum, it was more nagging injuries than general fatigue. As hard as Nurk worked last off season to lose weight and get in the best shape of his life, playing a few games of Euroball will be like a walk in the park.

I look forward to it. I always enjoyed it last year, especially the salty OKC, DEN and HOU fans.

I get that, but I always felt like if he wasn't playing in France, then his body would have a better chance of healing properly.

Nurk is young, and I'm not too concerned about it. But if he starts coming down with injuries and fatigue in the future while he's still playing in Europe, then it might be something to think about.

Nurk looks somewhere in between the size he was at the end of his first season in Portland, and the size he was in the training camp last year. He’s not as skinny, but instead of fat, he added muscle.

Huh, I thought I was the only one that noticed that.

I do indeed hope it's muscle and not fat.

It’s definitely muscle, his trainer (who trained Lillard in boxing last offseason) was posting videos of their workouts pretty much every day in the summer and even went to Croatia with him.

That's good to hear. He needs to play like it though. No underhand layups on one foot over guards....drive to the rim and slam it down.

And some people thought he was gonna stop working after he got his contract...

Dude, you very well may be right about that:

Dude looks very.....cut? Defined?

I get what you're saying: not skinny, but not fat either.
