This "3 all-stars or gtfo" narrative is such non sense. Would draymond or Klay be all stars if they played for the Kings? Mavs are a good example too. They had Dirk and a bunch of role players, which is completely ok, because role players are almost as important as the stars. That's the beauty of team sports.

Yes, Klay and Dray would be all stars on another team. The Mavs didn't just have Dirk and a bunch of role players, they had an MVP, a defensive POY, a 4 time all star in Shawn Marion, 12 time all star in Kidd, and 2 time all star in Butler.

I agree that role players are important. My argument was that in today's NBA the role players have to be surrounded with at least 3 all star level players and I think my point is proven.

The Spurs are the one anamoly and that's because of their system and coaching. The Spurs are the exception to the rule.

Dirk's Mavs. They beat Lebron and his super team.

Now stop coming in here acting like a know-it-all. It's off putting for a rookie...

It's off putting for a rookie? Smh so geekish this is a discussion board dude relax lol

Your "genuine discussion" has a condescending, know-it-all tone to it.

That's your opinion. Telling someone to slow their role because their a rookie to a fan forum comes off as someone who takes this way too seriously, that's my opinion.

All those guys were all stars with other teams, or earlier in their careers. On that championship team they were all role players. Marcus Camby was a DPOY too yet no one would ever call him a "star."

And there's no way Klay or Draymond would be all stars on another team. It's debatable whether they should've even been all stars with their current squad.

Dirks Mavs had an MVP in Dirk, Tyson Chandler, Shawn Marion, Caron Butler, Jason Kid, and Jason Terry...

.

Listing off names doesn't prove a point. Caron Butler played 29 games for them. Kidd was 37 years old. Marion was past his prime. They got hot at the right time, and had everything working. Listing off Terry, Kidd, Marion, etc. doesn't show what they were doing. Kidd, upped his 3 point perecentage a ton in the finals. Terry put up 18 a game, but otherwise, look at the stats of that team. Where were the star performances? Even from Dirk, he wasn't "going off" to get them to win. 26/10 in the finals was a little uptick, but not like he all of a sudden poured in 32 a night or something. They didn't have a star studded lineup. They had one star in Dirk, and role players surrounding him. Regardless of what they did 8 years prior.

Then that's where we disagree, and that's fine.

I think Dray is the most important player on GSW and Klay is a top 3 two way player in the whole league. Again differing opinions.

Shawn Marion was an all star the year before they won the championship and had very similar numbers that year, same goes for Kidd. Chandler was 2nd in DPOY that year. I would classify them as a lot more then "role players" but that's jus me. To me that's 4 players playing at an "all star level" like I said.

Your rookieness barely had anything to do with it. It was your condescending tone and know it all writing style. What's funny is that you're the one that's taking this way too seriously... The bottom line is that some people in here have been posting in here for over a decade. I thought your posts were condescending so I felt like telling you. You seem young, dumb, and full of cum.

And you're completely wrong about Dirk and his Mavericks. Jason Kidd's old bones...

I'm pretty sure Shawn Marion wasn't an all star at any point in his time with Dallas. Dude was the definition of a role player.

Marion was last an all star in the 06-07 season, 4 years prior. When he was an 18/10 player, not 13/7.

Get off my lawn approved.

And one time the Blazers traded for "Allstar" Jamaal Magloire.

I'm going to have to agree with @dviss1 on this one. You had a good point to make, but refused to accept anyone else's opinion or rebuttal. That does not make a good conversation sir. I don't care if you've been around for 10 years or 10 minutes. Talk like a conscientious human being or you might get called out.

So we can't win if we don't have a Big 3....
I sure hope we will be able to find one one day....

LOL cmon. Dame hasn't been all star for two straight years. CJ has never been one, close, but no. Nurk hasn't sniffed the game.

They're a nice core, and could get there some day, but slow your roll

Not in today's NBA, not unless you have 3 legitimate all star level players. Look back at the last 5-8 years and show me a championship team that won it without 3 all star level players on it. And it's only becoming even more that way with players in FA wanting to buddy up on one team, even sacrificing larger salaries to do so.

We told you already. Dallas. Dallas did not have 3 all stars on the team.
Have fun around here...

Possible, yes. Likely, hell to the nah. Can't bank on "might be possible" when building a championship team.

get outa here. When building a championship all there is is it might be possible. There IS no sure thing.....

I absolutely love our core of Dame, CJ, and Nurk. They complement each other beautifully. I think Vonleh has the raw talent, but the jury is still out on him.

Black slang alert!

If you're going to use it use it in context people. I've seen this idiom that we invented bantered around here and it's been used wrong.

You slow your ROLE not your roll.

You're not reducing the speed of a dinner roll.

Isnt it a matter of interpretation?

I have always thought, like many others I know, that the person is rolling along too fast with his thoughts and it is indeed, slow down your roll. You are moving too fast and missing things...

Why would it be slow your role, as in slow your place in the conversation? That doesn't really even make sense.

maybe it's a fat joke.

Not a native speaker but I thought the same. Seems weird

It's not. It's role. It basically means know your place.

This site is not ran by black people. Ijs.

That was funny.

Not that I care, but am Curious. How do you know this is a black slang invention thing? Is it really traceble?

Like "on this day of April 4th, 1988 at 4:32 pm, Anthony Smith told his neighbor to slow his role and thus it became known."

I'm sticking with roll. I think it makes more sense and I like telling people to slow the fuck down. We all go too fast. ;)
