Ed Davis will be the "starter." Book it. Nurkic will probably play about 8 minutes a night, depending on foul trouble with other guys, but unless he completely overwhelms with production, I'd be shocked if he was the starter in 20 games, let alone 2.

If his highlights are anything to go on, then he is FAR FAR FAR better than anyone else at that position that we have. Better than Davis, and....well, Meyers it's not even an issue. Meyers doesn't even belong in the league.

Davis starts? I'm not down with that. Every 7' Center in this league is going to eat him alive; just like Plums.

The way Davis play tonight he should be the backup for him but again we have Stotts has a coach so who knows.

His offensive rating in each of his first three years: 96, 92, 98. That's really poor. Throw in a defensive rating of 110 this year and one of the worst adjusted +/- stats in the league and . . . well, don't hold your breath.

That's how he was on one team in one situation with limited minutes. Those stats have no bearing on how he'll play here with new teammates and an expanded role. Book it.
 
I think his offense rating due how Denver play and defense he just didn't give shit when he lost his starting job.
 
Terry is just being diplomatic. Saying he will be the starter automatically would be stupid even if he thought it. Davis can't hit enough free throws for Terry's liking. Nurkic will get his minutes and will eventually start unless the Blazers go on a winning streak with him coming off the bench after the break.

I'm betting on the new scenery. I mean, fuck....it's all we have. This HAS to work with him. There is NOBODY else who we have, and Olshey isn't getting anyone else worth a damn.

Nurk NEEDS to be a starter. Period. We don't have a choice.

Nurkic will be the starter, probably immediately after the all star break. The rest is just lip service.

I can sort of buy the first part, but it's a complete unknown at this point. The bolded part (if true) would be a huge red flag.
 
the phrase "ease him into the starting lineup" comes to mind but you have to showcase the other guys until he's comfortable...should take a few games

When you are winning you have the power to play whoever you want. When you are not winning, and the season is winding down........things change. Neil is going to want to see what this guy can do. And so will Paul.

I didn't say he wouldn't play. I said I don't think he's going to be starting any time soon.

I agree Neil and Allen have an interest in seeing guys get court time, but if they are meddling with lineups, then Neil should really just fire Stott's and bring a new guy that has an offensive philosophy that integrates low post play, in the meantime, just don't act surprised if it's a much slower rollout.

I actually think Stotts and our team did better with low-post play. This whole "here you take it, no here you take it" bullshit isn't working.
