Nurkic is a Blazer!!

This looks good if you remember that we got Plums and Patty for a lowish first-rounder. So overall:
The ghost of Steve Blake + low first rounder + second rounder
for
Nurkic + low first rounder

Hard to believe Dame signed off on this.
I like Dame but really do not care whether he signed off or not, th
I know you can make any player look good in a highlight video but this is impressive. I would recommend anyone who isn't familiar with his game to watch this video.
he played well last yr, this yr had slow start due to injury then Jokic exploded and the two just did not work together and he got a lot of bench time, again a super low risk/high reward trade for POR and we get a first as well, I say win/win. I love the trade and we could not be done yet with 3 picks now

I don't have Comcast so I really hope he plays tomorrow (TNT game).

I think the one...silver? lining you can take out of this is that this was pretty much the peak of what you'd get out of Plumlee.

Maybe Nurkic has higher potential...but guh, just like noknobs, I'm tired of hearing that word.

Plumlee got better every year. Plumlee was the hardest worker on the team. I don't think he was at his peak at all. He's still on his rookie deal still very young. Sad to see him go. Buuuuuut on paper I love this trade.

Now go package Nurk, crabbe, 3 picks and go get Boogie.

Thanks! Love that the first few minutes just show defensive highlights - I tend to think those can be taken a little more seriously than offensive highlights. But throughout the video I noticed that, for his size, he's quite fleet of foot - he reminds me a bit of Harkless as a C. One thing is clear, Terry is going to have to open Dame's/CJ's eyes to the passing lanes Nurkic creates when he gets behind the defense - those are EASY points if Dame/CJ will make the pass.

I like Plumlee. Nurkic's defensive ratings look atrocious, but I realize it could be a small sample size.

He was pretty good as a rookie:

But this season, Nurkic has shown that we may be watching a budding star at the center position. To this point, Nurkic has been a per-minute monster. Averaging 15.3 points, 13.6 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per-36 minutes, it's clear that he's able to affect the game already on offense. However, it's his play on the defensive end that makes a veritable impact for the Nuggets. The Nuggets go from being one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA when he's off the floor -- with a defensive rating of 110.5 that would be 30th among all NBA teams -- to one of the best when he's on it.

The other plus: we all love Plums as a bargain player, but when he gets a Crabbe-like contract we won't think so highly of him.

This is very true. The hate level takes a big jump when our players get a contract bump.

As for Nurkic, I like that he is 280. I wanted some size in there, not just length. Those highlights of him blocking shots shows quite a bit of timing. I like centers who can block shots without jumping. And his 21" no step vertical mean he won't be jumping. Maybe that helps with injuries? 22 year old is a positive too

I do agree that Plumlee got better, and was a hard worker. I didn't mean what I said to in anyway, disparage Plums.

It's just that he was a 4 year college player and this was his 4th year. He's already 26, so I doubt he's all the sudden going to turn into a 17-10 player.

He should have a long NBA career though, I will remain a fan of his (cept when he plays against Portland, of course).

This just feels like step one. Let's be patient. I think something else is coming.

I think those "step one" type trades don't tend to happen in the season, however, if there's a team that really needs a 'step one' type trade scenario, it's this one.

Nurkic has the potential to help the team, but this doesn't really "move the needle" (as much as I hate that saying).

The 3rd draft pick might.

If anything I think this makes us more likely/willing to surrender that Cleveland pick. And our unbalanced roster is still there, we just replaced Plumlee with Nurkic.

Hennigan and Olshey have history, just like Olshey and Connolly had history. All eyes on Ibaka for me.

We need a rim protector now. Bad

There are different ways to protect the rim. His highlights show talent in blocking shots, and the fact that he is a wide body means other bigs will not back our centers down so easy. I don't get the love for 230 lb centers who can jump out of the gym, but can also be pushed out of position.

Granted I have only see Nurkic play a few times and that was against us, so not a good example. But have to admit I am impressed with those highlights. He reminds me of a healthier, bigger and more talented version of Pekovic., who killed us for a couple of years with his wide body.
