Stotts showed what he thought of Nurk by not protesting that "foul" on Jokic' 3 flail.

Because it was a foul. Nurk should be careful, or he can find himself in Sacramento. if he wants to be involved, play with more motivation, jump for the rebound, don't make stupid fouls, go up strong, don't let your opponent cook you for 5 of 6 games.

If you heard the post-game Stotts said his replay assistant said he didn't think it would get overturned and that Nurk said to Stotts "I barely touched him."

Nurk has a history of asking for challenges that we lose. When you tell a coach to challenge a foul and say "I barely touched him." it would've been foolish to challenge.

So yes it appears Stotts doesn't trust Nurk when it comes to fouls and I think that lack of trust has been earned, don't you?

Nurk can play. I think he makes a lot of bone headed plays.

But with Stotts “system” it really relies on the guards to dribble the air out of the basketball and whatever Nurk can clean up, he cleans up.

I actually think running the offense through Nurk (which only happened rarely) was really effective. It doesn’t allow Lillard to be trapped and there’s more player movement

I like Nurks physical abilities, but he makes a ton of head scratching decisions on both ends. Look at the few times he had the ball in his hands for an extended time tonight, the outcome wasn't typically very good.

I think Nurk needs to prove he can master a more simplified role before he's given the keys to any offense.

So he just wants to negotiate for higher salary i guess. The guy that cannot stay healthy or stop fouling out. Smh 12 is way too much for what he has given us but since we don't have space just guarantee his sorry ass and wait to see when he gets reinjured or redestroyed by Jokic.

Trade idea:

Nurkic + CJ + DJJ + 1st round pick

For

Sabonis + Turner + LaVert

Dame / Ant
Powell / La Vert / Elleby
Kawhi/ Little / Melo
Sabonis / Collins
Turner / Kanter / Vet or Rookie

Maybe we can ask them to give us their arena too since we are at it Sabonis is better than all our 3 players combined.

im glad nurk finally spoke up (he did gave hints in the past, but he was very direct this time), whatever happens next, it cant be any worse for his career, it can only get better from now on

hopefully nurk reaches his full potential, whether that happens with portland trail blazers or some other team, cause that motherfucker terry stotts really diminished him

that was nurks way of saying "fuck you" to terry stotts and im so happy about it!

I think that this could be not the contract thing. IMO he is just frustrated and this showed on the court. He is between playing good for Blazers and hating his coach.
It must be really hard to play in this team "culture" with Terry's sons doing whatever they want.

Yeah, Blazers control his fate next yr so you may be correct. His 4th yr of this deal is controlled by the TEAM from everything I have seem - Blazers need to renew/guarantee contract by July 1, if not and they ley him go (hugely unlikely) he's guaranteed 4 mil

Stotts did make a number of challenges that didn't seem to have any chance of overturning the call on the floor, though. There was one recently that worked even though it looked like it should have remained a foul. All the others were upheld.

Looks like we need a new replay assistant, too.

What's funny is, and Nurkic should ask himself first, is he really capable of more? Does he have the skillset to do more? When you watched him in this series, was there a Moment when you said Nurk is being held back i wish he could do more? That's not what i saw. Nurk played in 3 playoff series, actually 4 because he played in one game in 2017 against the Warriors, and we lost all 4 series with him, against the Warriors, Pelicans, Lakers and the Nuggets. Nurk is 3:13 in his Playoff Career. That's tough man

there was a time when jokic took over in denver and nurk wanted out cause he knew he could start elsewhere and he was right

now nurk wants a bigger role cause he believes he can do more and feels like he was underutilized (which he was) and time will tell if hes was right (if he gets bigger role)

nurk is one of the most skilled centers in the nba, one of the few that are "two-way" centers and the only reason nurk isnt already an all-star level player is cause the injuries have slowed him down, but if he stays healthy and if they give him a bigger role, he will reach that level for sure... nurk did the right thing for himself, in worst case scenario, nothing will change and he will have the same role he has now (with portland or some other team) and in best case scenario, he will get a bigger role (with portland or some other team) and im really happy nurk said it, hes not a fucking role player

In what specific way do you feel he was underutilized?

no enough shots, no post ups, no enough pnr (which is blazers best offense), no consistency in using him as a playmaker

nurk is at his best when he plays all-around game on the offensive end (scoring at low post, scoring out of pnr, ocassionaly shooting from the mid range, making plays, setting screens and now hes developing 3-pointer), so you have a guy who can do multiple things on offense and you dont diminish a player like that to set screens, do hand offs and occasionally get to score out of pnr

terry stotts system is perimeter heavy orientated and therefore nurk is not an important factor offensively and thats whys nurk pissed at terry stotts and dont want to play for him again and even stotts said were a "3-point" shooting team and he usually says about nurk: "hell get his opportunities", meaning hes not one of key players on offense

nurk himself said hes 4th or 5th option on this team and he clearly believes he should be third option and that he shouldnt average much less shots than cj mccollum and on some given nights, he could be 1st or 2nd option if he gets it going

how many times we saw nurk killing it on the offensive end and than we go away from him, cause other players need to get their quota of shots

I heard it was August 3

Yeah. We aren't going to find agreement on this. I don't see him having a real post-up game and I don't think he has the mindset to be a punisher on the low block for 30 minutes per game for 82 games. I think he was involved in a high percentage of our plays as a high-post facilitator -- both passer and screener -- even though he lacks even a 15-foot jump shot.

I think Nurkic is a good player. I also think Nurkic might be a bit looking for a scapegoat for his own lack of realization of his potential. He's waaaaay too inconsistent and can't seem to figure out who he is. I honestly think Stotts used him pretty well. But he's volatile. Gets mad at a bad call at one end and immediately gets a silly foul at the other and gets taken out of the game. That can't all be on the coach. A guy so frustrated by the perceived misuse of his coach that he hurts his team by doing odd, selfish things on the court isn't a guy any team or any coach other than a great handler of personalities can make reliable. Just look at Russell Westbrook.

Nurk is butt hurt...the team that traded him here just kicked his butt and he lost his matchup with the guy who took his job....he made dumb fouls in quick order and missed bunnies...didn't rebound that well. Regular season Kanter was a double double machine....Nurk really wasn't that impressive this series other than a couple games. He shut down Joker twice....Joker beat him 4 times. For a guy who spent two years waiving a towel he should know he's not our number two option on offense. In the series he was 1 for 5 from the 3pt line....I think Nurk will calm down from his post game frustrations and realize this is not all about him...I love the Bosnian Beast but he only showed up in 1 out of 4 games from my view.

Well use him wrong this year. In the past he was the 2nd or 3rd option on offense so he got his touches to score and his passes so very involved. This year when Powell came in he was reduced to a 4th option on offense so the opportunity to score was gone. Plus he set pick and he roll but usually never seen the ball when a lot times in this series he was wide open. Dame had great series on the offense side but he miss Nurk a lot on the pick n roll. Defense he just don't look quick out there he use to lite on his feet for big as he his he pretty quick. I really fill his broken leg has taken some of that away from him. Does he leave who knows we will find out. But if Stotts is back I think he will ask to be traded. Olshey will wait until August 3 where his contract is fully guaranteed then traded him for who and where who knows.

For me Seeing Nurk develop this year was incredible. He’s always been gifted passer, his defense has drastically improved (while he didn’t stop MVP Jokic he had reasonable success guarding him straight up), biggest improvement I saw this year he’s finally finishing around the rim! While he’s not a great scorer I think he has potential to be 18-20 a game if we give him more touches in the post. Thing he needs to improve on is dumb fouls he’s an emotional player so he’s prone to pick up stupid fouls, that will improve with age.

Top 5 players I want to keep
1. Lillard
2. Nurk
3. Powell
4. Roco
5. Collins ( I know dumb but so much upside, I hate to give up on him) I’m all about risk reward

Hopefully the Blazers hire an excellent big man coach. Nurk and Collins could really use it.

Make it Top 6 and add Little.

we shoot so many damn 3’s that hard to tell if they need the work or if the coach needed to use them more.

I felt like Stotts relied to heavily on the 3. We had the lead in last game I would have given Carmelo some post up opportunities and drive to the basket more wasn’t like they had a shot blocker. I love that we are great 3 point shooting team but in playoff games you need easy baskets when things get tight, sorry rambling

especially nurk, he needs a good coach that can improve his low post game, he has that sweet spin move, but i think additional move or two could make him good low post player and therefore become a player that can score in multiple ways (low post, pnr & 3-pointer which seems like its becoming legit)... to me, nurk has way more potential offensively than just being a role player doing hand offs and setting screens and occasionally getting a play ran for him... when you add his passing and screen setting, how many centers in the league have that skill set, fuck me if theres more than five

both nurk & collins have a really good footwork, so theres obvious potential there, but they need two things: a good coach and stay healthy, so far they havent been able to stay healthy and im not sure they had a good coach and whats even worse, terry stotts system is not a good fit for centers, which is why nurk was diminished to a role player and according to me, he had every right to be pissed about it

one can hope our next head coach will bring in good assistant coaches to develop our bigs and make sure our centers are important part of the offense, otherwise nurk wont stay with the blazers, either hes gonna ask for a trade or hes going to leave in free agency next summer, that much was clear from his last interview... if used properly and stays healthy, nurk will turn some heads in the nba world next season
