Odds of Ice-out Tonight? (100%! Game has been rescheduled.)

I'm assuming they would of already announced it by now if the game was cancelled. So Detroit could fly out before the snow/ice. Typically the NBA only cancels games if the opposing team can't fly in. The Pistons flew in to PDX yesterday, so they are already here.
As a fan, this will be a good game to go to because they will probably allow fans in the upper sections of the arena to move down and fill seats in the 100 level.

It's not getting to the game, it's the race out of there afterwards. The race to 84 and 26 could turn very ugly very quickly. This is a situation where you think about what's best for the fans instead of worrying about if the Pistons can fly out of here.

It's the fans responsibility to decide if they can safely get to & from the game. Nobody is forcing them to go to the game. But I guess that's the way it is nowadays, it's always someone else's fault. "I got in an accident driving home from the Blazer game, shame on the Blazers organization for not canceling the game!". Ridiculous.

Someone you might know thinks differently.

Well shit. I was hoping to watch a Blazers game tonight. I'm assuming fans who bought tickets get refunds? Do they get tickets to the rescheduled game? How does that work? I'd be pissed either way. I have tickets to the game against Orlando next week and if it gets cancelled, I just won't get to go to a game at all this season. It's the one game I can fit into my schedule this year and that I'm going to make the drive for.

"Tickets for the now-cancelled game on Saturday will be honored for Sunday's game. Ticket holders who can't make it to Sunday's game also have the option of trading in their tickets for "a comparably valued game in the future." Fans who do plan on attending Sunday's game are encouraged to show up earlier -- the arena will open at 4:30 pm for the 6 pm tipoff -- and take alternate forms of transportation."

See Sly's post above.

Sorry, didn't read all the posts. Thank you.

Isn't most of Ogden Utah flat?

Okay, so it's Australia, not NZ, but it looks pretty darned good right now compared to the snow and ice around here.

It's been 105F in the shade here for the last couple of days. Today a cool change has come through, and it's only going to be 86F.

I was looking forward to cooking a BBQ lunch, and settling in for an afternoon of Blazer basketball. Guess I'll just have to settle for watching the 36ers beat down the NZ Breakers.

Every February 2nd we gather at the Rose Quarter and wait for the McGowan to step of the Blazer offices and see if he sees his shadow. Last year he didn't and we ended up with 5 more years of Comcast.

BAM!

KGW news just showed that the freezing rain is starting in some places.

It might start coming right before the fans would be leaving the games. The snow load has been kind of disappointing, but Im not surprised.

You mean I can watch the Blazers play thier season all summer long in the afternoons?
Im fucking moving! Im looking for jobs in Sydney!!!
No I will get advice first.
Fuck. SOOO tired of basketball in the winter. dark before the games even start....
Man, Im seriously looking into that for potential retirement.

So if I have seen the Crocodile Dundee serious, I pretty much know all I need to know, right? :)

On the serious, that is bad ass. Summer sports are soooo boring....

Utah has very dry snow - much like most of the rest of the country. Driving on dry snow is very different than driving on wet snow or ice. People who laugh at the PNW response to snow don't understand these major differences.

I love when people laugh at the PNW, then I go on a national news site like MSN and see that there was a 30-car pileup in a place that is used to snow (like Connecticut today).

My dad (who grew up in a snowy area) would tell all his relatives who made fun of Portland/Metro, that it's a different story here.

Besides the fact the city/region isn't used to it, it's a different kind of snow. Like you said dry snow on flat areas isn't difficult to handle.

Wet snow is completely different, throw ice on top of that AND the weird way the Gorge winds blow...well, you have a mixed bag of shit.

And then you have hills?

fuck that noise.

Totally. I've been driving in snow for 20+ years. Born/raised driving in PNW, but have driven in snow in BC, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah. The only time I've ever gotten my car sideways, or slipping, has been in Portland. And I live on the east side, so don't ever deal with the west hills which I can only image are death slides. I LOVE driving in the snow in the mountains, but all but refuse to drive when it snows in the city.

Also, I'm not sure if this is true, but I feel like roads in the PNW are crowned far more heavily than other places - where they may be slightly crowned or completely flat. You put ice on a crowned road and you're gonna slide off to the side of the road.

This was epic. Loved it. I was watching it live when it happened.
That's awesome! I didn't see it happen, but I was on Mississippi probably within 30 minutes of that taping! I wish I had seen it when it happened.
