How in the fuck did this guy get drafted over Durant?

One would think work ethic would be a great way to separate 1A and 1B

We really dropped the fucking ball on this one....... /gun-to-head

Work ethic and determination is why Barton, for example, will succeed beyond whatever his natural abilities are. For anyone who said draft Durant because he's a gym rat, you got that one right.

Oden is going down hill fast.

5yrs ago - Oden: "I enjoy school and would like to be a dentist after I retire from the NBA."

Today - Oden: "I want a job where I can wear sweats and have weekends off."

3yrs from now - Oden: "I can't wait till I'm retired so I can sit on the couch all day in my Depends."

Maybe he could still get a sponsorship deal from Depends?

My guess

Those who can't do teach I guess.

Anyway, hopefully the guy gets his life together.

Read the sentence before it.

Asked what he’d like his next job to be after he retires from pro basketball — whenever that may be — Oden smiled before giving his answer.

You didn't help out Oden with that one. The answer I'd be looking for as a boss is that I'm not looking past my goal of being the most successful NBA player I can be.

What a monumental bust this guy is.

I know posters are just going for bitter jokes, but Greg is probably just BSing off the top of his head to answer an odd question. Regardless, I don't see whats wrong with putting the position of Gym Teacher in a positive light. If Greg or any former NBA player actually does that following their pro-ball career (which I highly doubt), thats great as far as staying involved with real people and life. Gym teachers don't get paid much, but they are in a position to positively affect kids... and they get to wear comfortable clothes. Most former athletes don't do much in their post playing days that I would respect as much as them becoming a Gym Teacher

STOMP

And, as the saying further goes, those who can't teach, teach PE.

Best of luck to Greg, but damn, what a bummer.

Most pros credit an early gym teacher for their first inspiration. I have no problem with Oden wanting to be a gym teacher, but not if it's because he thinks it's an easy job.

Interesting - he's still available and to date no NBA team has taken a flyer on him.

Not surprising considering he most likely wouldn't be able to play next season.

What a nice article. Greg has been through a lot. He sounds like he's grown up a lot and has a good head on his shoulders. It's cool he does stuff for the B&G Club and the golf fundraiser, and that he's working on his degree. I hope the best for him.

Wouldn't he have to have a Bachelor's Degree? He's a freshman. It's almost impossible for someone of mediocre IQ with $15 million in the bank to get motivated to pass 3 1/2 years of courses, even if it's just a P.E. major.

On-line degree. That way he can stay home, drink beer, and throw dogs off of balconies.
