Oden nearing return - olive http://blog.oregonlive.com/behindblazersbeat/2009/03/morning_shootaround_rudy_out_b.html

Trail Blazers center Greg Oden, who will miss his 12th consecutive game tonight against Dallas, is starting to see marked improvement in his left knee, which was chipped on Feb. 12 in a collision with Golden State's Corey Maggette.

The Blazers training staff was ecstatic with Oden's workouts on Tuesday and Wednesday morning, saying they were by far the best he has had since the injury.

"He's getting close,'' a source said.

Oden will not play Friday against New Jersey, but the team has already committed to bringing Oden on the upcoming five-game trip, which starts Sunday in Atlanta and continues through Memphis, Indiana, Cleveland and Milwaukee.

whats sad is rudy will be back before oden imo.... thats shameful

Hell yeah! The team needs the big man for the playoff drive!

 I'll be at the Atlanta game!!!

I'll try and get some good pics for y'all.

Good news for the Blazers. Hopefully he can be effective when he comes back and stay away from getting hurt....again.

if we clinch a playoff spot... he should prob rest

He should be held out until he feels no pain, IMO, but he needs time on the court to get into shape and shake off rust.

funny enough... last time he returned was on the road vs miami

Let him come back slowly... we'll just need his rebounding and post presence for the playoffs, no longer needed to get in to the playoffs.

Dang, MIXUM!

A positive post. I knew you had it in you. Nice job.

you must have missed his bolded last line...

Anyhow, great to hear that he's improving! l really love reading everyone playing internet Dr. here weighing in with whats the proper rehab schedule for Greg, I'm for following the real Doctors advice what ever that may be and erring on the side of caution.

Yeah, you're right, I did miss that. I must have trained my eye to ignore anything he posts in bold.

Agreed on all points.

Great news! (I was waiting for the no improvement happening, Oden to get surgery and miss rest of season) So this news is almost as good as the Blazers beating the Mavs.

Blazers need Oden on the court . . . and Oden needs to be back on the court (when physically ready of course)

Hey F YOU! When's Bynum going to be back?!?! Oh wait, you weren't trolling...... :drumroll:

Well in an article about the injury they said it can take 1-6 weeks to heal, but can rapidly improve in 1-3 days, so I'm guessing this is that time....

I'm gonna go ahead and hold my breath.

I'm not saying Oden's a bust. But I am expecting nothing out of him from here on out. Seriously, I don't expect to see him play ever again.

This way even him playing in a game is a pleasant surprise.

Mixum posts positive news.

Oden may be back soon! Un-ignore Mixum!

What did KingSpeed just say?

j/k..........j/k

I posted a separate thread because I wasn't sure if other people could see Mixum's thread. Can everyone see it?

You know what's even "sadder?" You not being able to make the distinction between fractured knee and a bruised rib cage.

I'll take any positive news about big G.O. at this point. At least this is a step in the right direction insert senseless bolded end of my sentence

New Poster and can't wait for him to get back. Finally found out where all the Blazer nuts were hiding.

:yawn::waiting::readthepaper::bored:

The day he is actually back and contributing, I will believe it. I'm not holding my breath.
