Remember? I told you those would come back to bite us. You simply cannot lose a home game to your main division rival even if it's early in the season. Yes, Miller, Aldridge, and Roy missed free throws but Oden had a chance to be the hero and he blew it. If we had won that game, we would be only ONE GAME behind Denver in the standings right now with a chance to tie them up on Thursday. This is why I was especially disappointed that night. Yes, we failed against Utah at home but we were shorthanded in those games.

People love to say "it's early" when a game is lost in November, but those games matter BIG TIME in April.

That said, I'm so happy with the win tonight. We're unbelievable in 2nd games of a back to back. We've won 11 of our last 13 games overall. We have the right combination of veterans and young talent. I think we have a chance at a legitimate title run. Maybe those free throws won't matter.....

P.S. Our bench could be better. Can we please trade Bayless and Webster for Blake and Outlaw?

I still think of that loss to the Bucks.

edit - blowing game to Memphis, etc

Fuck

How about blowing the game to the Hornets. It really is amazing how we should be about 4-5 wins better than we are which means about 25 or so losses. Damn. Don't forget we lost to the Lakers at home too, and even though it may have not made a difference it would have been nice to have Roy for that game.

Remember when Brandon was out for five weeks? I knew that was going to come back and bite us in the ass

:blahblah::smack:

Someone burn this thread down.. Anyone got a match?

Stop. For the love of God, please stop.

That last Jazz loss still burns.

I also remember a few wins this season that we probably should have lost. Like I said at the time, those HUGE wins are coming back for us BIG TIME! If we had just a few more in the loss category, where would we be now? Hmmm? Hmmmmmmmmm?

If I woulda just wore a condom. If we woulda just ate somewhere else. If I woulda been Jewish. If you woulda told me she had that. If I woulda thrown away the gun. If I woulda walked away. If I woulda played the spade. If I just looked at the size of her feet. If I woulda......

I'm so confused right now. I coulda swore this was a bump from an old thread. I felt like I was in another dimension when I thought it was a bump, but each post says "today"

MOVIE ANNOUNCER VOICE: "In a world where two free throws mean the difference between a basketball championship and absolute catastrophic self-destruction, one man makes a journey beyond time and space to set the record straight. From the producers of Sliding Doors, The Butterfly Effect, and Back to the Future comes the tale of a doomed team and a basketball prognosticator nobody believed. Everyone said that it was early. Everyone said those points wouldn't matter. But at the end of the game, there's only one final truth: CHECKMATE. (Coming soon to a theater near you.)"

That was good. Repped.

That was good!

Reminded me of this -

Yep--we win that Denver game, and we're a game back of them. We keep our 4th quarter lead against Utah on 2/21, and we're a game back of them. We keep our 4th quarter lead against Phoenix 1 week ago, we're 1/2 game back of them. Hell, we win all those games, we're the 2 seed right now.

All that tells me is that as long as we're not the 8 seed, we have as good a shot at the conference finals as anyone.

Nothing says, "I have no self esteem!" than an "I told you so" post on the internet.

Nothing says "I have no self esteem!" more than a "Nothing says, "I have no self esteem!" than an "I told you so" post on the internet" post on the internet. Seriously, the projection in here...

Post of the year! Repped. Now THERE's someone with self-esteem.

Seriously, though, why are you pointing to just one game? In fact, there were a number of games the Blazers coulda/woulda/shoulda won.

Oden hasn't missed any free throws this season or last season. So, strange thread.

I was just disappointed back then that we lost a game that I knew would count basically as two games when looking at the standings in April. We can make up for it with a win in Denver this week but still... when you're trying to make a title run (and that's what I expected when we started this season), you've got to win those games. I don't point to the other games because I'm talking about Denver. And that counts as two games basically. If you reverse one of our other games, we're 2 games back of Denver but if you reverse our game with Denver, we're only 1 game back of them. Get it?

Regardless, we're playing great ball now and we look to be in good shape. The bench is a problem though. I thought we were letting Outlaw go because Cunningham was playing so well, but we hardly play him anymore. Players like Rudy, Webster, and Bayless need to step up if we're going to win it all this season. Otherwise, we should re-sign Blake and Outlaw and send Webster & Bayless packing for draft picks.

Didn't he miss at least one critical one against Denver at the beginning of this season?

OK, yep, following.

I'm more antijection than projection. :devilwink:
