So, best realistic combination of acquisitions via draft, MLE, and TPE?

I'll go with Murray, Warren, and Randle.

I agree with one of Murray or Griffin from the draft. Maybe Sharpe. I will throw in Bagley and Butler via free agency or trade. Both risks but feel we may need to take some to have a shot of it working out.

Yep.

No, John. I know he's 54 and retired and played football, but I think he could give us the infusion of toughness we need.
That face paint would intimidate the fuck out of the opposing players. The funny thing is even though he seemed monstrously big on the gridiron, he'd just be another undersized guard (6'1").

Randle would be disgustingly bad. Low IQ player that doesn't defend or shoot well on a big contract... That's exactly what we need!
While I disagree, it doesn't really matter since I was supposed to be naming someone we could acquire with our TPE, and Randle obviously isn't that--we could only get him using Bledsoe's expiring.

So I'll switch and say I'd want to gamble on Johnathan Isaac's health, if Orlando looks to shed his deal after drafting another PF to replace him.

Balls bounce our way and I’d like to see this….

Dame/Williams
Ant/Hart/Keon
Grant/Nas/Winslow
J Smith/Watford
Nurk/GB3

TJ Warren would be interesting, depending on his medical report. He is only 28 and shot over .400 on threes in his two years before the injury.

I think if we could realistically add

Jaremi Grant
Kyle Anderson
AJ Griffin

keep
Ant
Nurk
Ingles

That would be a realistically good off season, IMO

I don't see how the team gets Grant and Griffin, we would trade the pick away for Grant. Then sign Anderson as an MLE free agent (I'd be ecstatic). So that seems like a best case scenario to build a win now team for next year. So that would give a rotation of;

Nurk Winslow
Grant Watford
Anderson Little
Simons Hart
Dame

Where does this team rank in the west next year? I'd say likely behind these teams;

Phoenix
Memphis
Golden State
Dallas
Utah
Denver
Minnesota
New Orleans
LA Clippers

So 10th in the west? If Davis and LeBron are both healthy and the Lakers get useful additions they could be ahead of the Blazers, but I wouldn't be shocked for them to have another mess of a season. Then who knows knows what teams will have injuries, usually 2-3 teams have big injuries or massive underperformance so that would bump the Blazers up to 7th/8th. Of course the Blazers would have big trouble if Dame/Nurk missed a huge chunk of the season with injuries.

Maybe the Blazers get really hot and jump into a full playoff spot avoiding the playin. That seems like the absolute best case scenario. But they'd have no realistic way to contend and no assets to acquire a star in the trade. So they'd be a first round fodder or second round playoff team, as DameCJ accomplished about half of their seasons together.

If the year goes bad or Dame/Nurk/etc have injuries the Blazers are back in the lottery. So the downside is a lottery cellar dweller, and the upside is a team at best is as good as they have been during multiple seasons of DameCJ.

I'm so disappointed with the direction of this team. Its depressing that Cronin traded away 4 starters for peanuts and left the future as a bunch of roads leading nowhere. Glad to have Olshey leave, but shocked its now much worse.

I am not so sure that Detroit cares about yet another lottery pick in this draft. They already are very young and it seems like they are more interested in making a "splash" with a free agent. So maybe a future draft pick would be more important to them than another one this year. Our TPE could be the more important asset here.

We can trade the Milwaukee pick, but that has much less value than our lottery pick. Why would Detroit want a less valuable pick? They could just trade our pick this year for multiple future picks to a 3rd team if they don't want another rookie now.

There really aren't other future picks of ours that are easy to trade. I guess we could give up a complicated contingent pick and/or pick swaps. I hate the idea of giving up pick swaps, that could turn into giving up a #1 overall pick Duncan level of star since we have such a possibility of horrific Blazer seasons ahead.

If Detroit says they want our draft pick, is Cronin capable of holding firm in a negotiation? I expect he will have an idea of what he wants and just gives up whatever assets to ensure he makes it happen. Then he will complain nobody offered anything better. Not a good quality of a GM.

We get it. You think Cronin is an idiot. And he would be if he gave Detroit our top pick for Grant. But I doubt that will happen. If Detroit wants more than
what we are offering then we move on from Grant. Not sure which other teams can absorb Grant's contract, that wants him. I do think that is who we would be competing with.

You're making a lot of assumptions.

Depends on how much pull Dame has

Depends on how much pull Dame has

Very true, but my belief/hope is that when given two options, Dame will side with the smarter choice. I still think we have a chance with Grant depending on who else wants him and what that team is willing to give up. If we lose out on Jerami, then maybe Dame (and Chauncey) set their sites on a full MLE candidate.
I do believe that Chauncey will be more successful than Terry when it comes to recruiting.

Chauncey will be a good recruiter

While an obvious exaggeration, the fundamental point isn't wrong. There are always some good players in the draft. There are always players that wind up beinging drafted later than they should have. It is the GM who fails - not the strategy.

Were you going to list your top realistic #6/TPE/MLE targets?
