wow beast

Re: TRob: if he does become good, it will be a total mystery why two teams basically gave away a high lottery pick for nothing.

Don't forget what we saw in summer league: a great rebounder who looked lost when he tried to do other things.

My hope is that the lost part was at least partially due to the fact that he joined the team only 1-2 days before they left for Vegas. That would not hurt his rebounding, but it could have effected his comfort level on offense.

Anyway I am not expecting him to ever be an all star, but I do have high hopes for him as well.

He is going to go from a forgotten nobody on his last 2 teams to a fan favorite real quick here. He is going to freaking love the Rip City fans

Meyers is sounding how we should want. Robin is helping him out quite a bit. He knows he has a lot more work to put in, but Robin is teaching him positioning.

Here is Tone talking about the defensive impact Robin is giving

-Lopez is pointing at his man and the ball the whole time. (good fundamentals)
-Watson brings a lot of knowledge to Damian, great technic, uses his body well, keeps his feet square (good fundamentals)
-They are using the same offense as last year (not a surprise)
-Tone feels good about the defensive intensity, (although he didn't see their practice last year) the drills look good
-after looking at all of the other schedules and our schedule, he "really thinks this is a 6, maybe 7 seed in the west

If you get a chance to listen to the interviews before game 1 and after game 2 he totally changed his attitude, and it showed on the court.

I think Robinson reminds me of Brian Grant. Obviously there are differences, but their college numbers are very similar.

Grant's senior year at Xavier - 17.3 ppg, 10.3 boards, 55 FG%

Robinson's senior year at Kansas - 17.7 ppg, 11.9 boards, 52 FG%

I REFUSE to allow you to steal this comparison from me. I posted this in early July FAMS!

Mo Williams and Will Barton did not.

after watching the video, which is very good. Watch the first suggested video "Robin Lopez - I'm Not Brook". I didn't know RoLo was such a good finisher.

LaMarcus Aldridge was light and went half court today in practice. Dorell Wright has dislocated middle right finger.

Haynes

Earl Watson (left calf contusion) left practice early. Dorell Wright (dislocated middle right finger) left practice early too.

Blazers

@aldridge_12 calls Lopez a selfless & unselfish player who has a strong desire to win. Says chemistry between the two coming along quickly

What is that, five small injuries in 48 hrs? Time to fire the training staff, this is unaccepatable.

I'm definitely on the Robinson bandwagon. I think there's very real promise that he could end up being my second-favorite player, with an outside shot at my favorite.
The comp I was thinking of (if everything goes right for him) is a more beastly Millsap. However, then I saw this...
The new Shawn Kemp, huh?
and think that could be a decent comp, too. The Sonics-era Kemp. And a less beastly version.
But even topping out at Millsap would be pretty damn awesome.

Hasn't LA been taking shots at JJ for a while now?

I wonder if he did not appreciate JJ comments about being surprised that LMA was still a Blazer.
Can't remember the exact quote from JJ.

And remember who drafted Brian Grant.
