Two things: I kind of hope we take Shabazz if McColllum isn't there at 10. Shabazz has a high bust factor, but also has massive potential and that is someone we need to gamble on. Also, if Cleveland really is looking to trade there number 1 and Aldridge really doesn't want to be in Portland anymore, I kind of hope Cleveland will break in and trade a player or two with there picks kind of like they were willing in order to get Love. That way we have a young team that can grow and be in full tank mode for next years draft.

Agreed on Burke, but not MCW. He is a poor man's Shawn Livingston. I watched Livingston play a lot before he got hurt. Great passer, but got burned on defense and defenses would play him for the pass. You would really have to believe you could improve MCW's outside shot to take him.

Utah wants to move up from 14. Indiana's No. 23 is in play for a move. Sacramento definitely likes C.J. McCollum as a possibility at 7.

Cleveland is pushing the 2 p.m. deadline to move the No. 1 pick. The Cavs aren't in love with anyone (which is the norm in this draft).

I get the general theme that maybe teams are asking for too much for picks in this draft and if they really do intend on moving thier picks, what they want in return is going to have to come down...

Either way, this whole thing will get blown to smithereens with a couple of early trades. Too much activity going on for nothing to happen.
 
While Cleveland has invested significant time in fielding trade offers for the No. 1 pick, in the Cavs keep it there are two schools of thought: 1) they're deciding between Len and Noel, and 2) all of that is a smokescreen and the guy they really want is Porter. Personally, I'd lean toward the latter: Porter or trade the pick.

Teams are having difficulty getting a read on which direction the Kings will go with a new front office (Pete D'Alessandro and Mike Bratz) and new coach (Michael Malone) in place. The Kings had C.J. McCollum in for a second workout this week, and they like McCollum and Michael Carter-Williams. Some teams believe Sacramento also has genuine interest in Shabazz Muhammad. The seventh pick could open the window for Muhammad, the most polarizing player in the draft

I wouldn't trade LMA for Oladipo. I was just saying if we did make the LMA for #1 pick I wouldn't want to take those injured centers. I'm not even that crazy about them when there were healthy. Oladipo is by far the best player in this draft IMHO.

I'd take the chance on Noel. Of all the guys in this draft, he's the only guy I feel has the chance to be an impact player (ie. all-star). Big bust potential, and the injury obviously scares me, but I'd rather take the biggest boom/bust guy in the draft than someone slated to become a role player like Porter or Oladipo.

Assuming he stays healthy, I see Noel's floor as the current Larry Sanders. That's not too shabby, even for a number 1 pick.
 
Doesn't Shabazz just seem like a Sacramento pick?

I don't think Oladipo is slated to be a role player. I think from watching all the top players play this year he has the most upside. He already is a defensive stopper and his offense is improving so much in the last year with a very high ceiling. Even if he doesn't improve his offense as much as I believe he isn't just a role player. I think right now he is a solid starter on a lot of teams.

I think solid starter is his ceiling, but there's probably a really good chance he gets there.

I just don't see star potential....he doesn't excel at anything in particular besides defense. He's got a great motor, but guys like that usually end up fringe star players at best. (Iggy/Wallace) I just don't feel comfortable spending the first overall pick on someone like that.

After much debate back and forth for 6 weeks, the Cavs will select # 1: NerLenthony McLottodipo. Hope that clears it up for everyone...

I think this clearly shows...they are trading the pick...lol

Eerie quiet on draft trade front. Lot of new GMs want to make a splash. But few know who they really want yet. Expect activity tonight.

Also, Cavs trade talks of dealing 2nd rd picks, as well as moving up into Nos. 9-12 range, are ongoing. #NBADraft

I wasn't saying trading LMA for the #1 pick to draft Oladipo but if we did he is the only pick IMO. I don't agree about his ceiling being a solid starter. That might be where he ends up but I think he has way more potential. I guess we just have to disagree. I watched Noel quite a few games before he got injured and he was a great shot blocker but he didn't impress me that much. I just don't see him ever being all that great. His ceiling is lucky if it is even a decent starter.

With Monta Ellis headed to free agency -- and potentially pricing himself out of Milwaukee -- McCollum is a younger, cheaper alternative the Bucks can groom as Ellis' replacement. Despite missing half of last season with a foot injury, McCollum has shown during workouts that he is an NBA shooter.

Cavs hoping to move down and still get Alex Len. To get the guy you want & additional assets is the Chris Grant way.

This seems more logical....question is does anyone lowere want to trade up? and is CLE asking a mint to do so?

According to the NBA, no trades were sent in before the 2 pm trade deadline. That means draft order is set.

Well that's interesting. So the teams above may want to wait until the teams pick the players they want; then trade with the team that has the player.

Seems like a smart move. Maybe a team that wants Len could wait a few picks and not need a #3-5 to get him. Less money, if you know what I mean?

If McCollum is there, yes. Also, several teams in the late first round are trying to trade back into the early second. The Greek plus a second rounder may get you Dieng. I would be very happy with that draft.

Yeah I think this means they want to wait and see what is there and that perhaps teams were overvaluing the value of these picks....

Andre Roberson, who is in attendance for the draft, has a commitment from a team in the early second round according to a source.


I know some people on this board like him, analytics like him as well....
