BlazersEdge quoted Danny Chau of The Ringer. (I personally think BlazersEdge sucks ass.)

The better question is how is it not a facade? Do you feel that we are a 3 seed team? Right now? No. No one does and I think that's the point. I mean, Houston had the best record in the league last season and look at the shit they've done. We're clinging to it; he's right.
I feel that were in a pack of 7 teams that could all get the 3 seed. Nobody predicted us to be a3 seed last year.

So if we get the 4 seed, does that news that last year was a fluke and we should've rebuilt?

I don't think it's just the Blazers and Suns. I think Phoenix may be asking Portland to be a third to a bigger mystery trade. Would CJ fit on the Boston Celtics so the Sun's could get Rozier?
No. Celtics don't have room or reason to upgrade even more on the perimeter.

This is true; we defied the odds...and we will most certainly be for real if we end up with home court advantage. And if that happens, I will admit my skepticism is a form of stupidity. But from here it looks like Olshey is hiding behind this empty 3rd seed trophy, white-knuckling on the handles.

I don't think he is. I think hes trying to build for the future while remaining competitive in the present when there's not many moves available to him.

Whatever you (and Olshey) say, man. Build for the future AND remain competitive in the present. Neat. This conversation has been had, but that doesn't mean it's not true: Dame is 28. The building needs to be for now. Like next season, or the next few. "The same people that wanted sweeping changes last year?" Olshey smugly asked after being asked if the roster needs tweaking or significant changes. White-fucking-knuckling, I tell you.

So 28 is death bed now?

Weird, because LeBron James is going into his *16* season, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant are both over 28, and Klay Thompson is 28.

James Harden is over 28. Same with CP3.

Yes. And what have Curry Durant and Thompson accomplished? How about Harden? CP3 is old at 33 (which is what I'm saying) and oft injured. He's the cautionary tale as he has left his former team for a better chance at a ring.

No, it isn't deathbed. But 28 is the beginning of the decline. Dame is smack at the middle of his prime, he needs help, and it just isn't happening for whatever reason. It's just such a waste.

Well, Harden and CP3 have won as many titles as Damian has.

And we don't know for certain what kind of talent Trent, Simons or Curry bring Portland. Hell, we don't know if Collins will have an impact on the team or just be another Meyers Leonard.

I don't think the answer is to trade people or give up on Damian and CJ.

I was in a Falker Dash 8 that fell out of the shy from Vancouver BC to Seattle and I had them white fucking knuckles!

There was nothing to do this summer. What move did they miss out on that they should've made? Olshey was trying to get Cousins and would've if it wasn't for his agent. What else was there to do that he didn't try? I'm far from an Olshey apologist and I don't like his tone either, but people need to start thinking objectively about our situation instead of getting all wrapped up in their emotions.

Calm down.

Do you realize that this is a contradiction...?

You actually believe that?

As if it were only about this summer...

I'm just talking about wasting Dame's prime here. And Houston had the best record in the NBA last season and Morey has repeatedly worked to make that team better. Not say draft 19 year olds and sign castoffs.

We were the only team willing to offer Cousins more than the full-MLE. He's tight with Dame. No reason not to believe it.

Here's where I'm coming from.

Almost no matter what the team could do this summer, they weren't realistically competing for a title. Houston did sign a cast-off (Anthony).

Also, Simons might have been a steal at 24, considering he was projected to be a lotto pick in 19 I believe. So drafting him might be a "holy crap, that was an awesome pick!". But it could also be a pick that we look back and go "I see Taurean Green made a comeback in the NBA"

There’s every reason to not believe it.

The contract would’ve been the first thing discussed.

Well I have trustworthy people that I talk too also. Not like that's gonna change your mind, apparently everyone's lying. Oh well.

Prime is different for 4 year college players than one and done guys...it's not the years...it's the miles...enter at 18 like Kobe and at 28 you've played 10 seasons...it's all relative...both CJ and Dame were 4 year guys in college.

I think about it as if a college season is half an NBA season. So Kobe at 28 had 10 seasons, while Dame has had 7.5 seasons (he missed the majority of a college season).

CJ didn't play much his first two seasons as a Blazer and had injuries in college as well
